I am a Wigan fan and like other people on here I understand the concern people are having about these types of tackles. Wigan are clearly using a three-man tackle with the aim at putting the man on his back to slow the play of the ball down, to let the defense get itself set again. This to my mind is just good defensive tactics played to the limit of the rules brought over by a very smart coach. I don't believe for one moment that Coley is trying to deliberately injure another player. All the Wigan players surely understand that "what goes around, comes around". The real issue is that when you have been playing 30-40 minutes and you are tired, your tackling technique becomes sloppy and then you have a real chance at hurting another player, and that is why the RL needs to look at this. Other teams will start copying Wigans technique and then we may see a whole spate of injuries to players, so it needs to be examined very soon. My other worry however is that we can legislate against these slow the ball tactics, but go the other way so that the game becomes like Rugby Sevens where the defense can never get set. That to me would get boring as well. I like to see Rugby where attacking skills and defence is in balance - without one dominating the other.

If our tackling technique was as bad as some people make out, opposition teams wouldnt have any players left by the end of every match, and our players would be banned all the time.

Fact is, if we were 8th in the league and knocked out the cup but still tackling the way we do, no-one would bat an eyelid, but because we're doing so well someone somewhere has to find smething to complain about

Descent balanced post Tactitus. I just think that Wigan are the main the main culprits using this technique and when you consider that big sol came
off at the start of the second half and Sam Moa came off midway through the second half I don't think it can be attributed to just tiredness.
Have to say though that Wigan really seemed to be holding down far too often and should have been penalized more. That last set of
6 at the end of the first half, Wigan were penalized 3 times in a set of six and someone should have been sinbinned. No-one would begrudge
you as worthy champions but your glory is tinged with a bitter taste of 'pushing the rules/cheating.

We have still do not have this list of players "crippled" by the Wigan technique... It was YOU who said there is a list of people... and you keep being asked for it.... as the old saying goes "put up, or shut up"

Had a few beers and even though i've posted on here I misread 'tackling' as 'tickling' which makes this topic and others with the second letter
swopped from 'a' to 'i' quite funny. Same with tackle to tickle. It's rugby league changed to Ken Dodd with one letter change. I'm fairly
