| Quote: Ron "I was sat in the North stand, did anyone else see the Wire and Leeds fan kicking off..... Wire fan (man late 40s) was shouting and cheering all game, and telling the Leeds fans to stop complaining about the ref. This Leeds fan (man mid 30s) then started saying if he didn't shut up he would knock him out.... Wire fan has 2 young kids with him who started crying, and then all the stewards came and they both got escorted out.
Wire fan ended up with a cut on his face, not sure how it happened but he was shouting that he wanted the police.
Not a nice scene.'"
Ron, that was me - I'd be really grateful if you could send me your contact details via personal message. The matter is now in the hands of the police and it would be really helpful if you could offer your version of events if needed.
Don't want to say too much but trust me, I will pursue this as far as it needs to go via the police and the Leeds club.
By the way, I'm only 41!
Mark

| Quote: sally cinnamon "I have lived in Leeds for a while now (as has Leeds Wire) and on the whole I have found they are a good set of fans here, as morleys_deckchair says they have a good knowledge of the game, but one thing I have found is that the average Leeds fan takes rugby league more seriously than the average Warrington fan. That's not a criticism it's an observation.
Eg back at Wilderspool I used to stand in pondlife corner and when we were playing badly you would hear loads of funny comments being shouted which were basically ironic comments on how crap we were playing and how we knew we were crap. People were annoyed that we were losing but the general atmosphere was not one of anger, it was kind of "seen it all before, same crap year after year but we're the mugs who turn up for more and more punishment". We would be rubbish but there was a lot of humour going around the terraces. Now when you go in the South Stand in Leeds, even during Leeds' glory era, amongst their home fans the atmosphere is a lot more tense, even if they are 10 points up if the ref gives a dodgy decision or one of their players knocks on the fans get really uptight and grumpy about it, I always get the feeling that they don't enjoy the games, they are stressed and tense all through the 80 minutes. Now obviously there are a lot of Leeds fans so this is just a generalisation, but it has always been the same whenever I've been at Leeds and I've been there as a neutral a lot, standing with their home supporters and usually hoping Leeds win.'"
I've always found our lot extremely sarcastic, more so than any other fan, even on here it's just a bunch of peetakers, some simple and some intelligent (like yourself) but on the whole Wire fans just love being sarky twunts,

| Quote: Wainers "I too was sat in the North Stand. I have to say that after 15-20 I said to my brother that there would be trouble. Whilst you may not have realised it, you were coming across as someone who just wanted to wind the home fans up from the momement the game started.
Now banter should be allowed at games and you should be able to support your team without fear of being involved in a fight for doing so. HOWEVER, it was seemingly clear to everyone bar yourself that by continuing to 'support' your team in the manner that you were doing so, would only end up with one outcome. Sometimes you can have the 'banter' during a first half, have a sensible chat with the opposition fans at half time, start again for the 2nd half then shake hands at the end of the game and wish each other luck for the rest of the season. That's the great thing about our game.
Sometimes, you just need to shut up if you can see a situation escalating into something more confrontational. Sadly, you seemed oblivious to the obvious warning signs and carried on shouting at any Leeds fan who told you to be quiet. Am certainly not condoning the actions of one or two Leeds fans - there is no place for that in Rugby. But, to then see you continue your crusade after the altercation rather than ensure that your clearly distressed children were ok, was beyond belief to myself and the other Leeds fans around us.
If you have now placed this in the matter of the Leeds club and the police then I will also be contacting them to hopefully put a balanced perspective on the incident.'"
As always, there's 2 sides to every story, and I wonder why the Wire fan who apparently now lives in Leeds, hasn't posted this on the Leeds board where the incident may have been witnessed by many more people.

| Wow! It is therefore acceptable to engage in physical violence should you object to someone supporting their team? What an odious individual you must be. I am sure the relevant authorities will deal with this in the correct manner, irrespective of how vociferous the fan involved was.
