This is going to be a strange experience in Widnes next year. It's their first "home" game there, and our first proper away after Cardiff. I've watched Warrington at Knowsley Road more times than at any other ground other than Wilderspool and the HJ, and I've got nothing but tormenting memories of the place. Widnes on the other hand is a lot different. Although I have seen them (Widnes, not Saints) beat us there, and the 2004 Challenge Cup semi, neither of which were great, my last three visits - two Challenge Cup semi final victories, and relegating our nearest and dearest - were three of my greatest moments in the game.

I imagine many on here are in the exact same position. With it being our first local away of the season, against a club no one wants to miss seeing us beat, in the nearest ground to us outside our own, in a town that's easier to get to on public transport from Warrington that St Helens is, I envisage us taking a huge following there. Probably more than Saints will take, season ticket holders aside. Although a likely freezing cold February night is never gonna be pleasant, at least we won't go through the turnstiles with a haunted feeling like we would at Knowsley Road.

If the players feel the same...

Like it there only seen us lose at Widnes once in a semi against Wigan.

Won't miss walking over that muddy path on a wet night at Knowsley Road thats for sure.

Will be strange going there but will make for alot of funny widnes chants in the stands hopefully

Like wire85 mentioned atleast if its raining we won't have to attempt to dodge puddles of mud.

As someone pointed out last season, it's the Halliwell Jones where we've never beaten Saints.

We'll still get beat, stop looking for all these signs. Slaughtered end off.

Can I be the first to point out that this doesn't count. Next season isn't being written into the official record books, it'll be as if it never happened.

I'll be happy to apply those guidelines if Saints win the Challenge Cup or Grand Final.

I know. It's bad enough having a record 4 game losing streak in Grand Finals. Imagine if were to be 5. I would want that stricken from the records too.

While wire don't get there. It's like "so what"

It's extreme but think of man untd and man city.

Man city have been second fiddle to untd since at least the premier league (not my sport tbh) but the past couple of seasons (I think) they have got the talent and the results are coming. probably both wire will get to the grand final and Man city will start getting to champions league finals. I would like to think that wire will win a couple though. It looks sad going to 4 and losing them all.
