are you saying Tomkins is better than Wellens as a complete fullback or even Briscoe ....no hes done well in his first few games at it and was very pleasing on the eye in an attacking sense but as quite clearly emphasised on Sunday he has rarely been tested in defence at fullback and when he is he comes up short.....

Yes. The fullback roll has changed over recent years. A modern fullback is all about pace and attacking threat, yes they need to be able to defend, but the game has moved on now from Wellens and Briscoes style of fullback play. Top fullbacks now have the style of Slater, Hayne, Tomkins, Hodgson
