He did not. He did not even imply it either. He was just reported to have said we had not peaked. We cannot read into that we will necessarily 'peak' furthermore we cannot draw any conclusion of what constitutes said 'peaking'.

He is suggesting that we are on an upward trajectory. The headline says the same. However, the headline sounds arrogant. His words do not. It's all a question of perception.

I think there is more to come. Hopefully he can work his magic and get us really firing when it counts at the business end of the season. Perhaps last Friday was the start of it.

Its odd to be in the position where we are second in the league having recently won 7 out 8 games but as a fan thinking that we haven't been brilliant. We've done enough to win games but a few we didn't look to have got out of second gear or we made it very difficult for ourselves. Perhaps thats par the course for a side that is consistently winning and we just aren't used it?

Its certainly unchartered territory for me anyway.

If anything it sounds as though he's trying to keep the players on their toes

"We don't feel satisfied yet. I don't think we're at our peak yet by far. Hopefully, we can do that as the season goes on. There are areas where we need to get better."

Usual stuff aimed at the players and probably also an astute nod at Wigan straight after having beaten them. Best time to suggest you haven't peaked is after a good win. Smith used to say similar things at Leeds.
