Quote: magic piano "So who was the last Saints coach to not win a trophy during his tenure? Pretty certain it's never happened during SL and there's a fair chance of it not happening during Potter's reign so would that not class him as a failure in the eyes of Saints fans?'"
He won the CC in 2008.
However, he would be the first superleague coach of saint not to win the league.
Although that may imply failure, it doesn't make him a bad coach. For instance, in three years we won a league and 2 Challenge cups under Shaun McCrae - I don't reckon many people would suggest McCrae's a better coach than Potter. We also were in an awful state at the end of not only McCrae's, but also Millward's tenure. Potter has dealt with a lot more players leaving than arriving and managed to get the kids like clough, eastmond et al to step up and fill the void. Saints are still in a decent league position, in the semis of the cup and have managed league victories over their main 3 league rivals (2 of them away from home).
He will leave us in a very good place, with a blooming squad.
