erm... pot and kettle spring to mind about opinions. You are the one making a ludicrous case that bouncers are somehow pillars of the community.

Not pillars of the community but they are not all gun-toting murderers either. I have met some nice helpful stewards and some complete idiots. Stereotyping is almost always negative but rarely are a group of people always the same.

thank you, very well put, i am aware that over the years i have worked with some idiots, however i have worked with some real nice people from all walks of life, social backgrounds and temperaments . likewise i have met some nice punters and some lowlife scum, i have never prejudged them or treated them with disrespect. in your case mark i will however guess that you do prejudge people before ever meeting them..thus making you worse than most. now please leave your predjudices at the door!
like or dislike them they do a job i feel you are incapapable of doing without the fear of being an opinionated ass who would without doubt wind every one up into the biggest public disorder occasion known to mankind!

Not really because I worked on doors myself for a short time as a student. It is better than it was admittedly but you only need to read the news nationally and locally to realise there are a lot of undesirables.
