Quote: Saddened! "The iphone was a flashy piece of kit when it was released. It's browser was the best.
But now it's looking very dated. The software is showing it's age. Turn on the Xperia for example and you can have timescape, which frankly blows the iphone software into pieces. For a lot of users today, phones are becoming social devices more than ever, so having facebook, twitter updates etc are very useful. You get a text or a missed call and you see the persons facebook status. You can then go into their facebook page from there if you wish to comment on it. Or if you take a picture of that person if can recognise their face and tag it in facebook. The internet on it is also incredibly smooth and better than the iphone's browser IMO. The browser on the iphone loads pages very poorly, meaning basic pages like forum links and lists of hyperlinks cannot be opened until the page has fully loaded, as it recognises your tap and then adjusts the screen, sending you into a link you didn't want.
I also don't rate the performance of the iphone as a mp3 player. When plugged into a car through the aux input the performance is very poor. Basic Sony mp3 players are better. There are loads of other stupid features that are all about being fly and not about performance, for example when media is playing and you turn the screen and it changes to a gallery of the album art (Useless) with tiny player controls. The app store is an area people rave on about with the iphone. Some half decent stuff on there, but 99.99% of it is absolute garbage.
The iphone is also probably the most uncustomisable device ever. Unless you crack it, you are stuck with one theme, one set of icons, one layout, it's all very dull. I don't see why they don't just update the software once in a while (Without charging you for it) and try to include features some of the other smartphones have.'"
Looks like we can add the iPhone to your Roll of Death to sit alongside Richard Mathers and the PS3.
