Quote: Rob Wire "I`d play Richie Mathers at 6 with Briers at 7 and play Riley at full back.
Our current half back combination of Lee Briers and Richie Myler has a nice balance of pace, support play, tactical kicking and creativity.
By playing Mathers at 6 you will keep the support play and he`s far quicker than either Vinnie Anderson or Simon Grix, Mathers quite often comes up into the line as an extra stand off anyway. He can also take is enthusiasm into the middle of the pitch, i think i read right that he played stand off earlier in his career.
Chris Riley would do a solid enough job at full back just like he did at the magic weekend, leave Chris Bridge at right centre where he`s doing a very good job. I`m not keen on either Vinnie Anderson or Simon Grix as a 6, they don`t exactly bounce off the ground and it would be fairly basic stuff and fairly slow in comparison to what were used too and that could blunt our play out wide which has been excellent of late.'"
Good call. Having seen Mathers play for the reserves @ 6 last year I think he could do a good job. Like you I think he brings another option when he comes into the line. Didn't he create Hicks 1st try on Saturday?
