Why are they surprised though. They have built him up on some pedestal like hes the new Alex Murphy or something when its plain to see, at least for me, he is nothing but a solid SL halfback and nor will he be anything else.

I'd be mega surprised if I ever see Penny play for Warrington again.

Penny was chucked into the Wolves team as a kid and basically wasnt able to handle the rigors of SL. A short spell at Widnes did his game a world of good but (with the greatest respect) Widnes aint SL. Now he has a chance to gain regular experience against SL teams and is also maturing as a player. If the lad turns out to be good enough for Wolves then so be it.

Has out performed Eastmond all the way through the academy and in the last game also. Does that mean Eastmond is nothing more than solid?

I'd take Eastmond anyday.

Here we go again. Eastmond and Tomkins are the two most exciting half backs to come through the ranks in the past five years and stupid Wire fans are trying to do one of them down.

Who is trying to "do them down"? I stated that out of the two i would take Eastmond, sorry i was aware that this was a forum, where you can voice your opinions.

Tomkins at 6
Myler at 7
Eastmond at 4

That's not because i think Eastmond is a lesser 6 or 7 than Tomkins & Myler but that he's more versatile.
If Penny played outside of Eastmond for England he'd see a lot more of the ball too.

IMO - Tomkins is more than a solid SL player as said above, Tomkins is very creative and can win games single handed, also he has a very good kicking game.

However i think Eastmond has a better kicking game than Tomkins. Eastmond is versatile, creative, skillfull, he's an "all rounder" if you like not to menshion Kyle's superb goal kicking. Because of his goal kicking, versatility and slight more creativeness he edges it.

Two great starts of the future though and this is only good for the game, I'd maybe put Eastmond at FB. He's been playing very well there in the games he's had to fill the void there this season and with the only likely other contender being Briscoe i'd play him there.
