Quote: morleys_deckchair "one thing that really stood out when i watched the game back was the way the penalties flowed.
Once we opened up the 16-4 lead the referee showed bias in the way he ran the game... I am not for one minute saying that it just happened in this game.. it appears to happen in most games you watch where one team opens up a decent point lead... It's almost as if the ref's try and even the game up by giving the losing side as much chance to get back into the game as possible..... like the VR call to allow the try when gleeson prevented king from making the tackle... the decision could have gone either way... but if wigan had been leading 16-4 at the time it would certainly have been disallowed.
It doesnt just happen in RL.. it happens in football as well.... teams getting beat 2 or 3-0 get soft penalties to let them back into the game... umpires in cricket give funny lbw decisions when a team is massively behind.
[i'advantage to the losing side'[/i'"
Mate - It took 30 minutes for us to get our first penalty.
Your lead was opened up whilst getting the rub of the green from the ref, then he started to "even up the penalty count" - Which I don't agree with, but it happens every week.
As to Gleeson - Bentham debated for all of about 2 seconds on that.
To quote him "He's just supporting his team-mate. Nothing wrong with that" - And yes, I *was* listening to him.
If every player was done for obstruction, every time he ran in support, we'd have at least 50% of all tries disallowed in the game.
