Football allegiances play no part in our support of the wire. the song has no football references in it at all and in anycase it is much better than the crap that those drummers come up with - mind numbing durge.

| anyone familiar with the Madness song Wings of a Dove ? If you slightly mishear the chorus, you might interpret it as "woa-oh woa-oh, Warrington Wolves..... woa-oh woa-oh, Warrington Wolves...." ?? anyone with me? it might work as a potential song. Then again, I'm not keen myself on any references to wolves, much prefering the traditional WIRE as the official nickname. Just a thought.

| Haha I quite like that but I'm also not keen on anything with "Wolves" in it.
In fact, as an aside, in the 12 or 13 years since the club inflicted a Sky Sports Super League nickname upon us has anything chanted EVER had "Wolves" in it?
I acknowledge Bradford Bulls and Leeds Rhinos have worked but in our case surely it's time to drop it.

| Theres a guy at my work (who's originally from darrrrrn sarrrrrff) and he asks me on a weekly basis 'who have the wolves got this week', it just doesn't sound right.
This week to me, the wolves are playing Birmingham, not Harlequins.....

| Yeah I get people who don't really follow RL but know I do asking me about "The Wolves" but among fans the "Wire" nickname is as strong as ever despite the fact it's over a decade since the name change.
I'll admit I always assumed at the time that eventually a new generation of fans would grow up supporting the Wolves rather than the Wire, but there's plenty of kids at the games now who weren't born pre-Super League era and still chant for the Wire because everyone else does. That pleases me greatly but it does highlight the lack of success of the name change.
