Fair enough. I certainly hadn't seen that quote (and Wire 85 certainly didn't post it) but that seems reasonable. I have to say it's contradictory to other stuff he said previously, such asBut Smith, who had already raised eyebrows by dropping established international half-backs such as Rob Burrow and Leon Pryce from his Four Nations squad, has eschewed the easy, crowd-pleasing option of picking Tomkins, believing that Myler will form a more effective partnership with Danny McGuire – the experienced Leeds stand-off who returns to the side after being rested last weekend.'"
Also his "needing someone to move this big ship around" quote tends to go against this. Mind you, one was said before the France game, the quote you have linked is from after. Go figure. They do say hindsight is a wonderful thing!
However I do accept that it now comes down to which quotes you believe where indicative of his true game plan, so I'll accept it as evidence for and take back my last post to Wire85.
As for going quiet, I hadn't been back on the boards till now. Not really that difficult to figure out, is it?
