I was on about James not being from Manchester.

I think it's taken as a given that you didn't have to be born inside the city limits of Manchester to be a 'Manchester band', as The Verve are Wigan lads, The Happy Mondays were from Salford, Ian Brown was born in Warrington, The Charlatans, or at least Tim Burgess, are from Northwich, while modern day 'Manc band' The Courteeners are from Rochdale...

For me. Joy Division (though one was from salford which is important), honorable mentions for the smiths and a couple others. Nobody is saying simply red though?

How about 10cc (not a fan but gotto be up there).

Plus the best name for a band assuming that you know why they are called 10cc.
