| Quote ="Rob Wire"Why even mention the likes of Danny Brough on here when their have been calls on this forum for us to cut down on foriegners ? People have been calling for us to give English talent a go yet here we are again talking about giving another Johnny Foriegner a go, make your minds up!'"
Not a foreigner, he's going for dual nationality.

| Brough' a kind of poor mans Lee Briers to me. He has a blinder every six games or so, but the games in between, he's even more ordinary than Lee. He's also not got anywhere near as good hand as Briers.
Anyhow, I don't think Briers is finished, far from it. I think we'll get an Indian Summer out of Briers, like Saints have done out of Long, and he'll get another 12mths - 2yr extension. If he plays between now and Rd27 how he has done since he was dropped, and he wants to stay, I think it'd be foolish to let him go.
I know there's folk who'll talk about his grip on the club, influence etc, I think the last 7 days have told us, that's long gone now. There's only one bloke at Warrington, who's club it is. If you tow the line, work hard etc, you'll get the rewards, if you cut a corner, don't buy into the philosophy, you can get your coat. If Briers continues to show the desire of the last month or so, and demonstrates that he wants to be a part of the 'New Team', which it's looking like 2010 is going to be, given the cap space we now have, and with the other folk off contract, I think it might happen.
The bloke has waited 10 years to win something at Warrington, not managed it. He'll never have a better chance, opposition fans i'm sure would mock this with us perched in 12th, but I think the next couple of years look as optimistic as I can ever recall. Within a month, Smith has united a fanbase really. He's also changed folks opinion, instead of the belief that we had the players, a talented mob, but maybe not the coach, now we are all convinced we have the right man, and maybe not the players and he'll need to bring a few in, let a good few go.

This is a couple of times over the last week or so where you have claimed we are 12th.
We were 10th when you first said it and 11th now, stop selling us short!
As for the rest of the post, I couldn't agree more. It looks like we will need 1 new halfback if Monas leaves (although that could be Bridge), and if Briers can play consistently to his potential then he is a better option than many of the players out there, and less risky than getting an Aussie to come and try and settle...

This is the bit I'm not fully happy with - as you say, before Smith came in, most folk were of the view, rightly IMO, that we had a decent squad but a poor coach. Strange that now we have a decent coach, some of the same players are being deemed not good enough.
I appreciate that Smith will doubtless want to build his own side in time, but I hope that this season isn't being written off.
