Therein lies the truth for me. Unless they all improve astronomically in the off-season then we are going to struggle again next season.

Our whole pack is dire end of debate!

Just a general comment about forwards not aimed at a forward, who I have rarely watched…

People sometimes state how good a forward is because he rarely misses a tackle and/or works hard. They should be minimum requirements. Forwards have to bring more to the table. Forwards need to contribute in both attack and defence. Obviously, some players may be better in one particular aspect of the game but they need to hurt the ball carrier and hurt the defence while carrying the ball, otherwise they are only contributing for around 50% of the game.

Someone mentioned our pack in 1997. The pack was well-balanced in terms of ability and style, just a shame that a few of them were not a few years younger. When you look at that pack you had players like Esene Faimalo, John Cartwright and David Hulme. All these players brought so much more to the table than a safe pair of hands and being sound tacklers. With Faimalo you had someone who could break a tackle and then run 70m to the try line. While Cartwright had a fantastic off-load and was as intelligent as a half-back with ball in hand. While Hulme would make good yards, produce some fine offloads and when he passed the ball it actually had a purpose. Each of them also contributed in defence.

Wagga is dire?

I agree they may not be the best in thier positions I'd suggest that none of the above can be classed as dire.

2) They're all average super league players at best. Yes they might be the pick of the bunch for us, infact you can add Boyle to that and Jewitt if you wish, the fact still remains our whole pack together is a dire super league pack.

Gleeson has been released by Hull. Worth a punt?

Having Gleeson and Long at the same club again would be a bad idea.

Betting on their team to lose would be a far safer bet this time round.

Someone needs to change their signature

what i have noticed since i started watching salford about 7 or 8 years ago is that our players never really seem to look as big/physical as other teams players! When you see players from saints, wire, leeds, bradford and wigan they all look bigger and stronger compared to ours. Surely we must do similar training and have pretty much the same supplements etc as them? You can even see it when the academy play, some of the other teams youngsters are massive compared to ours!
