What most people don't realise in the States is the size and power of the Collegiate system, there is something called the B1G 10 who out sell merchandise wise and regularly fill bigger stadia than the biggest of NFL teams, Notredame isn't in the B1G 10 so you can only wonder what the even bigger colleges/universities make in apparel deals.

According to that story UA have kit deals with 12 college American Footie teams , two of which are in your BIG 10 conference :- Maryland & Northwestern,
the rest of these teams look to be a carve up between Nike & Adidas, interesting.
Your Michigan State team receive $8.2 M a year from Adidas .

Simply the article mentions that there is a change the deal could be worth up too £1,000,000 but you'd think that making that much would mean we need too shift one hell of a lot of merchandise/kit.

For what its worth (not much I know) but my opinion on the kit designs, I can't stand the home version but I'll accept the change strip as it really doesn't matter to me what colour it is but the home one, and I'll keep banging on about it, is the lack of white, is a basic Red & White kit [ithat[/i hard to come up with?

Oh on the Manchester thing, not to fussed about what the sponsor decides where its location is (although!) but I'm firmly in the camp that the club should have some recognition of where its from and who its representing on the shirt.

That's pretty much identical to my own thoughts. Under Armour do make some outstanding rugby shirts (google the Wales RU and Clermont Auvergne RU shirts to get an idea) but, for whatever reason, we've spurned the opportunity to go for a classy design that just might've appealed to those who aren't already diehards and instead come up with something that's remiscent of something from the bad old days of the early 90s.

The kit was actually the first item discussed at the first (and so far only) meeting of the 'fans board.' FWIW, the design was rejected overwhelmingly by those present (although some people were more enthusiastic about the away design (I wasn't amongst them!). The overwhelming majority actually expressed a preference to a design that was much more 'traditional' (red shirt, white trim) and IMO far superior.

Unfortunately, it seems that the design by this stage had already been signed off. You can imagine the surprise of those who were present at the meeting when the design they'd 'rejected' was launched last Tuesday.

I personally won't buy the shirt as I really don't like the design or the collar (it actually looks far too similar to last year's IMO) but hopefully many other people will do.

My New Kits arrived today complete with player signatures, i actually think they look a lot better in the flesh than they do in the designs and delivered before Christmas
