| Irlam grabbed a draw at Harrison Park against unbeaten Leek CSOB. Game finished 1 - 1 with Leek having two players sent off. Its easy to see why Leek haven't scored or conceded many this season. They're a very boring team who just play long balls constantly and time waste at every oppurtunity. It was glorious scoring a late equaliser against such a frustrating team to watch.
Next up is Colne FC in the FA Vase 2nd Qualifying round. Game is on Saturday at 3pm at Silver Street.

Were the Marine band in attendance?

| Salford City have been drawn away to Conference North Hyde Utd in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round on Saturday 26th August. Great draw for me as I run an Under 13's team over in Denton on a Saturday morning which means being in the pub in Hyde by around 12pm .
Shamefully this will be my frst Salford match of the season so I'm really looking forward to it. Even managing to drag a couple of Cheadle Town fans down for the game (although this is more due to the abundance of "old-man" boozers in the Hyde area rather than the lure of the football!!!). FC Utd face a tricky away trip to East Yorkshire/Humberside/Sh!tville to face North Ferriby Utd
Other ties of local interest;
Warrington Town v Radcliffe Borough
Droylsden v FC Halifax Town (should be a cracker)
Chorley v Ashton United

Yes they turned up. Sounded like the bloody Boys Brigade. At least they had the decency to relocate themselves from the Main stand to the smaller stand on the opposite side of the ground.
Next up. Salford City v Halifax Town @ Moor Lane, Tues 15th Sept 7:45pm.
Would love to see us get our first league points at the expense of the unbeaten league leaders in front of what will be our highest attendance of the season at Moor Lane.

| Salford were no match for league leaders Halifax Town going down to three first half goals in front of 544 spectators in a game where they rarely threatened to turn the form book upside down.
This Saturday it's a trip to Mossley, the ground which saw the Ammies gain their first league victory of last season. Let's hope that history can repeat itself again in the current campaign. Kick off it at 3:00pm as usual.

Very quick and mobile side who could switch from defence to attack in no time at all. Their centre-forward James Dean who has a passing resemblace to Lurch and Uncle Fester is something of a handful but does have a habit of getting wound up very easily. Most of their side seem to hit the deck very easily when it comes on one to one challenges and their fans tend to moan non stop about the officials. Unfortunately we conceded early on in our game and never recovered sufficiently enough to put them under any real pressure at all. They'll definitely let you play football but they are a physically very strong and fit side. Reckon you'll have to use the wings to make any headway as their central defenders are very dominant in the air. Keep their front-runners tightly marked and their frustration might start to show if things don't go their way. Cheers ....

| Salford recorded their first league victory of the season with a 1-0 win at Mossley courtesy of a goal from Rhodri Giggs. The Ammies made enough chances to have won by a bigger margin but had to be satisfied with just the solitary goal on 18 minutes.
On Tuesday next Salford make the short trip to Trafford's Shawe View ground in the 1st Round of the Unibond League Cup. Kick Off 7:45pm.

Anyone planning to go to the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round game between Hyde United and Salford City this coming Saturday would be advised to check ahead of travelling as it was announced this afternoon that at a High Court hearing in London that the Tameside outfit have been officially wound up. Their board is presently taking advice as to whether the decision can be overturned and whether the club will be able to continue in one form or another.

The less said the better about our 5-1 defeat at Trafford last Tuesday night in the Unibond League Cup. After dominating the opening half hour without any reward at all four goals in the final 13 minutes of the first half completely destroyed the Ammies whose night got worse with the dismissal of Ash Kelly in the second half.

| Salford's scheduled FA Cup tie at Hyde United tomorrow has been postponed as the Tameside outfit attempt to get the winding up order against them rescinded. It is expected that a decision regarding the cup tie and the future of Hyde United will be determined over the coming next few days.
