Without going into to much depth, the cap has changed slightly this coming season with more emphasis on a Club's income deciding the level that can be operated at. There's plenty of people better than me at going into the nitty-gritty of it on the forums, so someone else may be better poaitioned than me to give you more info.

| Butcher, I think you are right on the basics of it being the self generated income not just what the Dr will spend (seems restrictive to me), however my fear is that our playing roster will be weaker than last year and could then lead to a weaker 17 and another even harder battle to stay in SL with a weaker team, v v early days I know. More home game generated income and sponsorship I see being the issue. I had thought a Marquee signing might have really pushed the season tickets through the roof this year instead of next year, especially with the SC restriction this year. Im right behind them just don't want another season like last. These are just my thoughts from the West Midlands where I perhaps don't appreciate all the finer points guys, I hope i'm wrong. Cheers pal

| I wonder if Salford received a special dispensation to spend over their agreed salary cap limit in recent years, and this has been denied or revoked for 2016. I’m basing this on Section E4 of the RFL’s operational rules and agree a figure which represents 50% of Club Relevant Income (to be known as the Club Agreed Salary Limit).
A club may exceptionally seek a dispensation from the RFL to spend in excess of 50% of Club Relevant Income] as a Club Agreed Salary Limit. Such a dispensation will not be granted unless
Now, let’s presume that Salford’s Club Agreed Salary Limit for 2016 is around £1.2m, which based on 50% turnover of the club’s 2013–14 accounts. The current marquee player rules present a problem as £175,000 is a decent chunk of the cap, leaving around £1.025m to assemble a squad of twenty-odd players (not far from the max salary cap in the Championship – for those that can afford it).
Of course, this is a huge presumption, not least because a) there are quite a few other dispensations that can effectively increase a club’s cap spend which are not accounted for here, b) Salford’s 2014–15 accounts are due and turnover may have increased from the previous year, c) I’m not privy to owt, and d) I’m pants at maths, legal shizz etc.

a) I *may* be wrong, but I am certainly under the impression you cannot use the marquee exemption before spending up to the limit of the cap.
b) to the highlighted section, currently there are 2 rules (elite player dispensation and long service dispensation) which can currently take a team over the limit. Both of these are to be removed in favour of the marquee rule. The only dispensation rule (that I'm aware of) that clubs will be able to use is the "new talent pools" allowance

No, we definitely didn't have any special dispensations.

| I'm not sure why you'd carry a half-back on your interchange bench, particularly as they've been reduced by nearly 50% for next season. I would guess most teams will pack them with forwards.
I also rate George at prop, thought he put some good shifts in last season. Whereas Adam Walne is nothing but a penalty machine and unlike Weller (another culprit of conceding penalties) he doesn't offer enough quality when he is on the to make up for it. He certainly has time on his side though and I am hoping under Sheens guidance, both the Walne brothers crack on and fulfil the promising potential they shown when they first burst into the first team squad.
Also, if Lee does get injured we've got Matty Wilkinson to step in and if need be Gareth O'Brien and even Phil Joseph.
I think one thing we can all agree on is the need for a couple more bodies in the pack, whilst Ferres would be a great coup, it would still leave us a prop or two short.

| Is this about my comment on another topic JGR if so i understand your point about Griffin just feel he would benefit playing loose. I guess it's all matter of opinions and the experts know more then us
I feel this could be Adam Walne make or break season for me he has all the attributes to be a top class forward but he has the ability to throw in a few brain farts in there as well.
Hooker position is a worry for me reason i included O'Brien as we could see spell the hooker position with Lee. Might be unfair to throw Wilkinson in just yet!
Ferres would be an amazing coup exactly what we need we have the grafters now we need someone who breaks the line

| I think it's about time the Walne Brothers took the step up and proved something. While talented and not shy, they have been more of a liability for the last few seasons. I think this may be their last chance to push forward. Saying that, being academy products the Club will get a little discount on the cap which is probably helping the Club at the moment. They do need to realise that there are other younger forwards ready to step into their shoes if they don't kick-on.

we also need 8 Club trained in the squad to abide by salary cap rules
Current squad members who qualify :- 10 No.
Matthew Haggarty ( saints on Loan but Ex Salford Academy )
Jake Bibby
Matty Wilkinson
Ryan Lannon
Josh Wood
Liam Bent
Nial Evalds
Jordan Walne
Adam, Walne
Matty Gee
so they could off load - or loan out 2 and still be legal

Don't really understand your question?
I've no idea about next season, but I know we definitely didn't receive any dispensations last season.

I think his question is that if Salford were spending up to the salary cap limit in 2015, then why have they been limited in 2016? After all, the no more than 50% of club-relevant income rule was in place this year.

| In this week’s League Weekly Wakefield chairman Michael Carter says his club will be operating on a cap of around £1.65m for 2016, with Salford ‘around that mark’.
