This pretty much sums it up. Got too giddy when in front and coughed up possession which meant we never put them under any sustained pressure.

| I'm taking the quote about Eden being on a different planet meant he is playing well?, seems to be one of the few players playing with confidence and seems like he's enjoying himself. I'd stick with Mullaney at scrum half as he looked more creative than Smith has for most of the season and he simply isn't the better full back on current form.
Does anyone have any idea why Sa'u took the sitter kick he missed? Mullaney didn't look to carrying an injury (and kicked the attempt afterwards) so it bewilders me and could have come back to bite us at the death if we'd have closed the game out better. At the very least if he was going to kick he should have clouted it rather than chipping it.
I'd love one of the stato's to work out how many tries have come down Meli's wing or from a mistake by him compared to however many he has fallen over the line to score. It's all right scoring them but when he allow the opposition to score more it's counter productive. Time for me to give one of the youngsters a go, you never know we might unearth a gem.
One thing that did strike me was the call when our player got pole axed, for the ref to judge it was accidental is bewildering as accidental or not it was still high and should have been a penalty to us rather than a Widnes ball.
Agree with the comparisons between Brown and Elway as some of his 'line balls' we nothing short of blatant forward passes, how professional refs and linesmen fail to see that is beyond me and shows that not only is the class of player different in SL compared to the NRL but also the quality of the officials.

If you watch the video you will see him put the whistle to his lips but obviously sucked - players all stop and agree it was an `iffy` try as was the 3 yards pass from Brown late on which led to another try.

I think one flaw with the concept of the whole Magic Weekend idea is the referees obvious instruction to go to the screen as often as possible too add the 'tension' (for tension read nonsensical comments on SKY & people in the crowd spotting the bleeding obvious long before the officials dicking about with the technology on screen do). I really can't see (and would love even the biggest die hard Widnes fan to argue the call) how a high tackle that is accidental is not a penalty, the only difference between that and a deliberate one is that as in the Hull game they should be sent off rather than just spoken too.
We as a game do ourselves no favours when calls like that are missed and tight games are ruined by missing things like blatant forward passes.

I understand what you mean.
What we need is a HB partner that takes charge and makes the sensible calls. Chase's talent is off the cuff RL, he plainly is not an organiser, and yesterday highlighted it on a number of occasions. He made some bad judgement calls at crucial times. If we had a dominant HB partner that would take that responsibility off him, everyone's a winner. Chase gets to play his natural game at the right time without the burden of organising. Until we get an organiser to partner him, we'll have to put up with his calls. When they go right they are match winners, but when they go wrong they are match killers. So I understand where you're coming from.

| Anyone else think our pack made great yards going forward yesterday? I don't think we were kept in our half for one set of six. It was like we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, a lack of confidence and some panic rugby lost it for us - not a lack of effort.

| Im still gutted we lost that game, its a game where the forwards did there job but the outside backs didnt! Chase had a good game yesterday but when you've not won a super league since Bradford, basics need to come into play! Williams & Meli good going foward but defensively are bobbins!

Meli scored a try last week, which enabled you to get a draw, with both feet in touch.Bentham apologised for the error, yet the league table looks exactly the same. The standard of refereeing is awful.

| Dissapointing performance yet again. Anyone who says they can see an improvement in our defence are talking through their ar*e I'm afraid. Every time Widnes attacked us on our line they went over, it was embarrassing. This was after losing their scrum half after 60 seconds too. I don't know what they're practising during the week with regards to our sliding defence, but it isn't good enough. I would be happy with progress, but there is non.
In attack we looked better, but only when we played a structured game ie 5 tackles and then a pressured kick with a good chase.
I feel sorry for our forwards. Week after week they put the graft in, they take the ball up well and defend solidly. It is outwide where we're struggling.
I'm also sick of seeing is cough up the ball through stupid unforced errors. Greg Eden done for crossing twice, for f*cks sake, you're suppose to be a professional.
I'm writing this season off already and accept we won't make the play offs. If and that's a major IF Harris can fix the defence, it be to little to late. We just can't keep shipping 30 points a game and expect to win.
Here's what I wrote during the week RE the Widnes game;
Quote: John Gilbert Reds "I cant see past a Widnes win I’m afraid. Big expansive pitch, they’ll exploit our weaknesses around the edges in particular Gleeson and Williams (weak side).'"
If I can see it, then so can every other Super League coach we come across.
PS - yes the referee was bad, but to blame him is almost as embarrassing as our defence. Don't forget the referee mistake for Meli's try last week that earnt us a draw. I didn't see Vickers frothing at the mouth on twitter at that one.

Two wrongs don't make a right.
Last week Meli was in touch.
Yesterday we'd have won with a different ref.
He decided to blow, one way or the other,in nearly every set of six but messed up badly on the big calls throughout the match.
Sorry but talking through my a**e or not we are much better, but we are not winning and that's worrying

| Referee or not we should have won both games last week and yesterday. Blaming the referee is ridiculous and an attempt to paper of the evident cracks that exist within the current team. Were simply not good enough in defence to be a top 10 team let alone top 8. I don't blame Harris as I didn't blame Noble, I blame individual players who are letting themselves, their team mates and the fans down.

I seem to remember a couple of posters after our second home game when we were nilled by St Helens who stated that the performance by Saints was the best in a long while and they were going to be champions.
Despite being coached by a very experienced individual - formerly in the NRL (big on defence) and rumoured in the Oz press only yesterday that he would return there for 2015 - but not at The Dragons - and having the conveyor belt of talented youth from their Academy - St Helens lost 3 on the bounce only last month;conceding over 30 points - and conceded over 40 today.
I realize it won't make you feel any better but it shows the difficulty of the job Harris has.
The impossible can be done immediately - Miracles take a little longer.
I suspect my poor effort to make you feel a little better has been in vain.Sorry.

| On the junior sau kick, as he was lining up to take it I asked my kids why he was kicking, they said they had watched him practise kicks in the warm up, and he was kicking everything, even from the line.
Unfortunately he missed, but he and the staff must see something in him as a kicker?

| Having just watched the replay it should be the ref who hangs his head in shame. How did he miss the offside when Mullany kicked through? It wasn't even close. Then when Tasi was cleaned out and Hanbury raced away. You can clearly hear him blow the whistle to stop play so all our players stopped. When Chase asked him about it, he says"I never did anything mate "
