Well that makes sense...
If you look when I posted it was shortly after kick-off.
Your point is what?

If this happens it will be really disappointing, in SL teams struggle to develop halfbacks, then suddenly we have one who has great potential and just to fit him, so that two overseas players can play, he is moved to hooker.
Sneyd could be a top halfback for England and Salford for the next 10 years, if they give him the chance to play there.
If thats the plan for his sake and Englands, I hope he asks for a move.

It would only be disappointing from your perspective.
The modern game is the Utlility players game. Who is not to say that he could make that position his own?
At the moment, anything that concerns Salford seems to attract negativity from Cas fans who would rather be negative than just accept that what another Club does with THEIR OWN player really has nothing to do with them.

I am not a Cas fan, I am speaking as Rugby League fan.
I don't agree with you about the game being all about utility, I still think players, playing the right position helps massively, especially in a position that it really hard to recruit in, I think long term it will be more beneficial for Salford to have Sneyd playing at halfback. It would be better to have Chase there (a position he has played before in the NRL) for the long term for Sneyd and Salford.
I saw Hull do the exact same thing with Tommy Lee.

Apologies for lumping you in with the Cas fans. I didn't mean to insult you that way
Nearly every contributor that isn't a Salford fan on here is a Cas fan, regardless of subject, so forgive me for jumping the gun. I was generalising with regards to utility. Of course there is room for specialized players and utility, but utility is becoming increasingly important. You may be right that Marc's future will be better served at HB, but time's on his side and I'm sure that the HB role will be his if he continues to progress as he has done. Nothing is set in stone as they say. As for Chase, I agree that he would be a better choice to go to Hooker with his past record, however, if Chase can get consistent you just can't shift him away from the HB position.
It's a nice headache for us to have, for a change.

Wigan moved their homegrown talent around to accomodate Tommy Leuluai- Brett Finch- Blake Green - Matt Bowen
Kevin Sinfield...when Leeds used him at 9 , and Rob Burrow... It's ruined their international careers & they would have been better off throwing in transfer requests rather than playing where their coaches tells them ? Hmm
Stefan Ratchford - Fullback , Centre - Wing - Half Back - Stand Off - Loose Forward , Tony Smiths had him playing everwhere , maybe he should move on .
Marc's 1st senior team appearances were at interchange Hooker under McRae and he played alot of his reserve team footy at Full back .

| Playing hooker and half-back hasn’t hampered Kevin Sinfields career now has it?

It is a good position, I actually think Dobson is a great signing, but just feel that Sneyd is the best young halfback in the league, he should be in the England squad IMO, there are plenty of good young English hookers in SL (You have one in Owen and if you get Tompkins also), but a real lack of good halfs.
Only time will tell if this is a good move for Salford and Sneyd.

| Think I would've preferred something more radical like playing Sneyd in his actual position and signing a hooker to play in the number 9 role.
Hopefully it will work out though, and we won't be scrambling around for a loan signing to play there a quarter of the way through next season.

I didn't think that Theo looked that bad in the hooking position, maybe not a starting number 9 but added a little dynamism out of dummy half before Tomkins joined. I wonder if Owen will ever get the chance at a full time role, does make you think if coach after coach doesn't see him as SL material if they might be onto something.

For what it's worth, I have always thought that Gareth Owen has the potential to be a very good Super League player. He is one of the few players who set up a try with his first touch of the ball when he came on to make his debut. I think his dummy half play is very sharp and he tackles well. I was disappointed that Brian Noble let him go out on loan to Sheffield, but at that time it seemed that our young players were not trusted enough to play for us.
Hopefully, our new coach is going to look closely at our younger players. I am sure he likes what he has seen from Niall Evalds; I hope that he gives Gareth Owen a chance to impress him.

Absolutely. After last season, I thought he was in line for squad number 9 this year, and was massively disappointed to see him sent out on loan. We've seen the difference a sharp, clever dummy half can make now Logan Tomkins has joined, and, for me, Gareth Owen is the same kind of player.
