Quote: Iain "That's basically yesterday morning's Radio Manchester interview rehashed into print a day late. And pretty much says the opposite of what the Doc said last night.'"

Bernie Weinstock obviously attended the same media college as Neil Barker, just lazy journalism as usual.

Considering the Doctor’s comment on Sunday about dealing with his own supporters if found to be lying, I wonder if this could mean a potential club ban or suspension for some people?

Quote: Original Salford City Red "Bernie Weinstock obviously attended the same media college as Neil Barker, just lazy journalism as usual.'"

How do the Manchester Evening News get away with it? they are just having a huge laugh at our clubs expense. Bernie Weinstock for anyone who doesn't know is a fictional character in a 1980's TV comedy drama called Jack Of Diamonds - Weinstock was the owner of Crimebusters International, a detective agency. icon_lol.gif

Hearing the interview on Sunday he, Koukash, clearly was under the impression that a "Warrington player" had thrown a bottle into the crowd.
If he didn't actually see that happen and has relied on third party information then at worst he has been hasty and naive.
Surely a simple one line apology to that effect clears up the whole incident.?

Confirmed he'd been given a somewhat exaggerated version by a group of 5 fans remonstrating with the Warrington Stewards.
he said he was going to write letters of apology to both the Warrington Club & the player in question.

Once that is done surely that is the end of it.

He may be miss-guided but you must love his passion and hope that he is not on a giant PR stunt as over the last few weeks all I have read about is KouCash, KouCash KouCash and very little of what is going on at Salford. Really hope he turns it round as a strong Salford in Super League and drawing in fans to the game from Manchester would be massive.

To be fair, it's the media interest in him that fuels it. The RL media have found a reporting goldmine, enabling them to quickly and lazily get stories out on slow news days. He's a passionate fella who sometimes lets it spill out when he shouldn't but to us it just endears him more. I've found it quite surprising how much bitterness has come forth from other fans and people in the game. Not all, but certainly the majority. I guess that the close knit powers that be are not sure what to make of him at the moment, but to us he's a breath of fresh air. Besides, it's quite nice to be ruffling the feathers of others in the game. It shows we're not just Salford the retirement home who have no ambition, it shows that others are worried for their own Clubs.

I agree I think he is great for the game as long as he does what he says, which at the minute looks like he will. He saved the club and that's all you can ask for at the minute. and as long as his hands go deep in his pockets and you pick up some good talent I think Nobby will get you up there within the next 4 years or so. It does take that long and I hope the fans don't think that the league will be yours next year.

I've been sitting on my hands since Sunday but after reading posts from a variety of places, I need to join in.

Dr Koukash is an academic. As such, he should have the nouse to check his sources to establish the truth of what happened.

I watched him walk to the West Stand to placate his supporters and the view from where I was, was 'Respect'. So much so, that when he walked back to his place in the stands, we applauded him.

Reading what he said to the press left me astounded and all respect has been withdrawn.

Some people feel that all publicity is good publicity but I disagree. In this case, stating that 'we don't want this in 'our lovely game'', really angered me.

Surely bringing this situation to the national press helps to damage 'our lovely game'.

With respect to Dr Koukash, he has been in 'our lovely game' for less than five minutes and if he continues with his ill thought out soundbites, he will bring 'our lovely game' into disrepute.

This is the kind of publicity we really don't need.

My OH and I were considering buying season tickets for next year, alongside our Warrington tickets. We now have to think again icon_sad.gif

He admitted on the Monday even his mistake has since made an unreserved apology to the player in question ( Ben Westwood ) which we're told has been accepted. We had certain radio stations and news agencies still rehashing 2 day old soundbites as news. don't be too harsh on him . If your player has accepted the apology & moved on ..

Not if he has made national news with the accusations.

Haven't seen the apology, yet. Is there a link to it?

Sorry, our messages must have been posted almost simultaneously.

I hope he'll wait until he's in possession of the full facts next time.

I'm hoping for good things for Salford in future seasons. When I first started to go to matches on a regular basis,
Salford were always to be feared and that's how it should be.

Good luck for next season.
