Thank God for the news of tomorrow's Press Conference. We are alive and kicking and have a game on Friday night. There have been times in this past few months when I didn't think we'd be in this position.

I think other posters are right when they say that we will have to announce "journeyman" type signings and loan deals to get us over the next couple of months, before we begin to plan for a stronger 2014.

Friday night will be a celebration for me. It's probably the only time I'll go to a game thinking that the result is less important than the fact we're playing! I hope we can give Wigan a game, but I think we'll do well to lose by fewer than 20.

If that's so ( and I hope I'm wrong ), I look forward to a few choruses of "We may be poo, but we're richer than you".

I know it's the least of our worries, but who will be taking over the goal kicking duties if Sneyd isn't playing? Is Theo a goal kicker?

I make it 13 forwards in that squad - are we trying to make up for lack of size in the pack by having a whole team of forwards on the pitch???

Surely that squad can't be the final one - who will play in the halves with Fages? I'd assumed the starting combination until we get reinforcements would be Howarth and Sneyd with Fages as back up. Pleased for Theo if he is getting a chance just hope it isn't too soon for him.

I feel a bit sorry from Evalds if he misses out. Thought he acquitted himself well in the friendlies. Maybe it is too soon for him yet. Is Murphy older than Evalds? I know he made a few appearances for Wigan last year so I guess he is more experienced even if not older

All in all it shows the weaknesses of our squad and I think we will have to be in full on moral support mode rather than expecting competitive match - let's show those who've stuck with us how much we appreciate it

Very happy to get Williams on loan as he's some player, I don't think I can think of a quicker back line in SL currently than Murphy, Williams, Williams, Gibson and Broughton.

Pretty certain I've seen Mcgoldrick play stand off so maybe Theo at 7?, talking of Theo I more than think he deserves his starting chance as he's some precocious talent and I'm sure that Longy will have drilled it into him he has the talent to be out there on merrit never mind a weak squad.

Do seriously worry for our front row and it is a concern that of all the players we've been linked with I've only seen one prop mentioned and he isn't much bigger than McPherson.

As others have said Friday is a day to make merry in as far as we've got a team and a squad to watch, we've got an owner with a vision to make the team a competitive one and well we're watching Salford and players who want to ear the shirt.

As I keep saying extremely exciting times in the comes days, weeks and months.

Surely that's a preliminary squad that features the players it's common knowledge we've signed, with a view to swapping and changing it come Friday when the final 18 man squad is announced. I know there are rules against this but I'm sure that Wigan would be made well aware of the actual squad as opposed to this 'official squad,' so not to disadvantage them.

I can't imagine any other team having an issue with an arrangement like this as it's fairly obvious the circumstances dictate it cannot be done any other way, with a view to maximising the impact of tommorow's announcements.
