Or it could mean he is doing what Ian Leneghan did and getting the input first hand rather than relying on someone else to do it.

Quote: lancetodd "MEN.Salford Reds may have to look beyond Aussie Kurt Wrigley in their search for a new coach.
Reports from Australia claim Wrigley, the assistant coach of South Sidney, is not in any hurry to come to England and take charge of the Reds'"
Huddersfield will be looking for a new Head Coach in 2012 and Wrigley was Nathan Browns assistant at St George. If he was to fancy a go in SL the Galpharm would be a more attractive destination?

| Peter Gentle, Wests & Oz national team assistant seems to have jumped to the front of the que according to the MEN. Also mentions that Ellery Hanley is extremely interested in the post. Thoughts anybody? I don't have a lot of knowledge about Gentle but if he's working as assistant to Tim Sheens at both NRL and national level surely he must be worth a look? Hanley, IMO, did a good job at Doncaster under difficult circumstances and would also be worth looking in to IMO. He is still a massive name in rugbly league. A left field shout I feel would be Paul Sculthorpe, an inspirational leader who could be looking to get on to the coaching ladder. Other names mentioned by the MEN are definately NOT worthy of the job, Jimmy Lowes & Bobbie Goulding - NO THANK YOU!!

| I think the M.E.N are just linking us with EVERY out of contract coach/coach mentioned on here. Very little credibility in these articles I.M.O. Widnes announce their SL coach at 1pm today, so that might eliminate a contender/add Betts to the list.

I'd personally prefer us to go for a coach who has had the experience of working and learning from a top coach. Salford need a coach that has been itching for a shot to prove himself as a head coach. Someone who is looking to make a real name for himself in the game. Two great examples of this are Michael McGuire and Nathon Brown.
I think we need someone with intelligence, lots of energy, new ideas and bags of enthusiasm that will rub off on the players and other backroom staff. I feel this is what Salford need rather than an established big name coach who with respect has probably had the priveledge of working with a higher calibre squad of players.
We need the new man to come in and analyse every aspect of how the football side can be improved from junior level and not just the first team. We have some outstanding potential in our junior teams and I'd like a head coach that puts a huge emphasis and investment on developing these young players.
Our club needs a new coach to come here and roll up his sleeves and live it rather than just coming here for the contract.

| Does anybody else feel that the club will make a mistake and appoint vievers. I mean on the money side you may save money. But Im just a bit fed up of them not being adventurous in anything they do. Seem to lack ambition. I mean tarry was saying its one of the most attractive posts in rl. So why have we not had applications flooding in. I think noble would have been a very good appointment as will wrigley. But we will probably have to wait ages until something happens

I heard the club have been inundated with applicants. If it takes longer to pick the right one then so be it.

| To be honest I'm pretty disappointed there's even a question about travelling to Australia. If that's the route you want to go down, get out there and get it sorted. Let top quality candidates know that you are serious and you sell the Salford vision to them face to face. If it was my club I'd be over there at the drop of a hat and try to get meetings lined up with Wrigley, Lam, Dunneman and Gentle.
I can't help but think that this is not going to happen and we will end up with Vievers or Millward. If it happens it will be a real shame as this could've been a huge statement by the club moving onto next year.

| Yeah wheres the adventure in appointing veivers. Yeah we have new players that's great. The stadiums 4 years overdue but still happy it's being done. Just don't want us getting the easy option. I mean we got lots of NEW players now we need a fresh NEW coach

| Well Dennis Betts has just been confirmed as the Vikings Super League coach for 2012 so no-one off the list has been ruled out yet!

Lance, the quote has come via Neil Barker, need I say any more?
It could mean the opposite of what you have put forward IE That there has been lots of interest in the position, so much so that it requires some in depth face to face discussions with some candidates both here and overseas.
If Anderson has gone to Widnes who is Dennis Betts?
