Quote: Michigan red "My point is that Nero and Bailey for me are not players I would have had on any wish list (be it a fantasy one or a reality one). think you'll find Tallau came with great pedigree but look at the drain on the salary cap he has been for a couple of years. I'd be looking more at Pryce from Wigan and Yeaman or Turner (then at least the Judas thread would have a neat end to it).
The fact that Bailey helps out with the youngsters is obviously a good thing but we surely have someone in Mal Alker on the coaching staff that anyone even remotely involved with Salford will look up to and hold in the greatest reverence, also think that the Genius is doing a bang on job and not needing that much help.'"

Do you honestly think that we could attract a player like Yeaman? He's an International player who plays for his home town club, a bigger club than us and currently 4th in the league. Hopefully when we are in the new stadium things could be different and we may be in a stronger position to attract players that you and others will be more enthused about .

I remember hearing a story a few years back when Harrison was coach. Apparently Salford offered Jamie Peacock a lot more money than Leeds when he was about to leave Bradford and his reply was ' I'm very flattered but I want to join a club that can challenge for trophies every year'

Can you imagine if we had an Australian half back on our books who looked like a truly world class player, can you imagine the clubs who would have been chasing his signature. No that's just a fairytale and would never happen to a club like Salford. I think it's naive to think that we offered more money than Leeds, they might have offered as big a contract but the add on's and 'sundries' would amount for a much hi9gher annual income that we could possibly live with.

As for Yeaman you never know (queue some Hull fan who knows him chirping up) there is nothing to be lost by making an approach like that.

Exactly, that was the point I was making. Add On's/Sundries are a share of the prize money and that's another factor that makes it harder for a club like us to attract the top players.

Ok i'll put it another way 'sundry sundries'. The same way that Melbou (sorry yet again i've done that) Warrington are widely speculated to pay people these various 'sundries'.

It was mentioned in today's advertiser that the Bailey, feka and Gleeson signings will be our last! So this would only leave us with one hooker! Two if you include Owen, so maybe Matty smith might be playing hooker next year instead of in the halves

Would be disappointing if this is the case, i really wouldn't get Bailey, we have Parker, Sidlow, Adamson who can play second row, what happens if Holdsworth gets injured say & Latu is injured that game to. We need another Half back / Hooker!

Given Wigan's record when it comes to figures(creative accounting aside) and stats, it really isn't any wonder that disparities may occur from time to time. icon_wink.gif icon_wink.gif icon_wink.gif

Bailey is a great professional and clubman, the main reason he stayed on this season was to help the young lads come through, and the likes of Mossop, Farrell and Tuson have shone this season. Great defender who organises the line, athough he does lack a great amount of impact in attack.

It could be worse, at least you're not after Worrincey. icon_lol.gif
