Did you get rid of all the voices in your head? Do you now miss them and the things that they said?:

what exactly would you have suggested they did differently then?'"

stopped all the promising and keeping us in the dark about the whole situation! Do you really think that the club haven't known about this for a while now?

I have to admit that this is poor form on the part of the club in terms of keeping the fans informed..

If he has made this sort of explosive statement at a meeting not directly linked with the club and then this result today seemingly matches the worst fears of your Chairman then you would normally expect most clubs to put something out there.

I'm not sure what the normal method of updating the fans is; by website or radio or paper. In any case there are going to be a few worried fans out there tonight that would like some explanation.

I'm sure the club would like to search around for any spot of hope to tag on the end of this but they need to communicate now I would suggest........ even if it is to dispel this as being untrue..

I cannot believe there is no plan B.

The chances of the stadium being built on the scale it was originally planned was always unlikley.
Perhaps if they hadn't been over ambitious we would have had a small box-like stadium that shared a car park with a supermarket by now.

TBH some people have never got to grips with the fact that Salford is a small club with a really poor support. I admire JW for him efforts to try to create something bigger, but perhaps he was more concerned with his own legacy to the club rather than what it really needs.

It's disappointing, but there should be a plan B as the people involved would have known for some time that this was likely to happen.

Perhaps the club is looking for another funding stream - let's not read too much into this being the anniversary of the Battle of Greasy Grass Creek (Little Big Horn to 7th Cavalry fans).

i have a plan b
me and fungus the muffin man and red devil will go around with strippy shirts on and rob a load of swag till we can buy a new stadium ,
then we will call it the fungus stadium
we will have a part of the ground called the mushroom
that will be the board room
we can keep all the fans in the dark and feed them full of crap
we will sign players past there sell by date
and when we are playing swinton in the local derbys we will let everyone in for nothing ,middleman can be on the board so can the butcher , ave can be chairman coz he is a good fan who talks sense and goes to most games , and anyone else we like , it helps if your mad but thats not really a must

keep the faith

It would appear that most of the fans want to know what is happening regarding the stadiums. Ok, its simple. The stadium despite all the PROMISES that it will definitely be built is not going to happen. (along with the PROMISES of all the big names we are going to sign every year - too many broken promises). Bye Bye Super league and the club will be in serious danger of completely going out of business. Time we got used to it.

If the stadium dosent get the go ahead i see no reason why Super League would want to keep us. That begs the question as to would SL have any recourse to cancel our franchise early if it became obvious we were not able to fulfill the promises we made in our application. Pessemistic as i am normally i find myself even more in despair than usual tonight.

I think you raise a good point and tbh we may be better off being put out of our misery sooner rather than later if the staduim dos`nt come off.An awful thought but thats the way it is with me at the moment.

planned stadium and college development in Greater Manchester has been cast in to doubt as a result of the ongoing funding problems with the Learning and Skills Council's stricken Building Colleges for the Future scheme.
The proposed scheme would have housed the new Salford City College campus and the new stadium for Rugby League team Salford City Reds.

But the college – an amalgamation of three existing Salford further education colleges and a key partner in the project – may have to pull out if it does not receive funding from the LSC.

The Building Colleges for the Future Programme, which was originally worth £2.3 billion in 2008-11/09, was hit by a funding crisis after the Learning and Skills Council over-pledged its budget by £5.7 billion.

In last week’s Budget the chancellor announced £300 million of extra funding for the initiative.

The LSC is currently reassessing the national projects that they can deliver and the criteria on which the funding can be released.

Reds chief executive David Tarry saidThe stadium will happen and if, ultimately, the college are unable to take advantage of that opportunity, then we still have our main partners - the City of Salford… and [developer] Peel Holdings, along with a landmark site that already has planning permission for stadium and retail use.

Salford-born communities secretary Hazel Blears names the Reds as her favourite sports team. In her school days she attended Eccles college, one of the further education bodies being merged into the new super college.
