| Wilky is a gentleman a really nice bloke, that i feel is his failing,i feel he has been advised wrongly from the people he trusts implicitly over and over again, imho he should off got shut of them years ago,but Wilky being Wilky it is`nt going to happen anytime soon.I just hope he has got something up his sleeve to save us from the abyss the club seems to be heading for,it looks like all our eggs are in the stadium basket,i just hope we havent got Frank Spencer carrying it.

| Quote programmethrower="programmethrower"Got to admit I agree with that post, it seems people on this forum believe JW is some sort of messiah!! Since the Snape days what has he achieved at the club? What much resources did he drain into the initial stadium plans only to go bust after the announcement of the franchise! Says all you need to know about his professionalism. What seems apparent it that people think Dantes Inferno has a vendetta against JW, how I see it is, he hasn't once criticized him as a person but as a professional? So why are people getting on their high horse about it? The club is a joke and people need to realise it because of the captain we are a sinking ship! Now if you look at a club like Huddersfield who I sound say in many respects were similar to ourselves, always up and down, low crowds etc. Look what Mr Davey has done for them for a man who loves the club! Comparisons between him and JW could be made and I for one know which one I rather have at the helm!'"
You are suggesting that Huddersfield are a ' successful ' club ?
The only differences between them and Salford is 1 they have had ten years in a new stadium , put them back at Fartown and they'd be worse than you , 2 Mr Davey tips even more money in than Mr Wilkinson
John has made lots of mistakes , but ultimately he has still managed ' just ' to keep you solvent and in the top tier , for that he should be commended , and unless you have a queue of mega rich people knocking down your door , and I don't think you have , he is the person who will have to see you into Barton , wether you and a few others like it or not , that's the way it is
You are essentially a small fish in a big pond , and will most likely remain so for quite some time yet , maybe a relegation would do you good

If by that you mean 'where does' the debt of 4.5m come from I haven't got a Scooby Doo? Or even if it exists? KOTS has the financial year end report, maybe if he has time he could publish it if thats legal?

| It is easy to see both sides of the argument but I believe the club needs change & I believe those trying to progress the debate are continually blocked with JW is god, the past is the past, we actually owned some assets then, we now own f... a..! Now it will be no good for god & the club if it goes under because we failed to change course when everyone can see we are struggling to get the basics right.
I am not saying JW needs to go but for the sake of giving us hope something needs to change, surely we must all agree with that!

Yes things need to change , you need to somehow get another 5,000 fans through the new turnstiles , easy peasy

4.5 million in debt how can you be with selling the ground and variety centre + mega bucks from Myler and Ratchford. You dont own a ground, you are in the same position now as Leigh and Swinton with only rent to find.Salford will be sharing with Sale who will fill the stadium leaving less rent for Salford to find.

| STARBUG: I agree but where we are at present we should be laughing, that what really es me off, I go home & away & have for many years,I took 10 people to the last game of the season, these people had never attended, what an opportunity missed again, Barton bridge, Eccles, Salford, Irlam have you seen one jot promoting the new ground, marketing simple stuff like the club shop, getting it to market, Christmas is the best time to market what we have again missed opportunities! we have had a golden opportunity & missed again!
I like many people have turned a little over the close season when we should really be excited about our new venture. I foolishly have always supported the idea that we spent no money in our first 3 years as we were leading up to the new stadium & an opportunity to get it right for once, how wrong I have been?
Peel holdings, Salford Council, are not going to let this venture fail but it could end up that Sale sharks, take what we have had for a long time dreamed of owning, don't get me wrong I welcome Sale into the stadium to support the venture but as a minor players.
Yes you are right 3000 fans will not support the new stadium, so I ask what are the board proposing as they are the only ones able to change this. At present to me from where I stand they look incapable of reversing a losing trend of support & I for one am frustrated that there appears to have been no REAL positive marketing to promote this FANTASTIC opportunity to promote the club.

| It is a difficult situation , I can see many similarities with us and the LSV , we just stood and expected people to come , they didn't , And they won't at Barton either
Marketing is an extremely long term plan , it has to be a five , then ten year initiative , but unfortunatly sports clubs rarely look any further than the upcoming season , long term in RL is 4 weeks , not 4 years , quite often things are tried and quickly discarded because the results don't happen overnight
For every 1 new fan the club brings in , the club will see around £ 10,000 in revenue over the life of that fan , that is how it has to be viewed , instead the club expects to get 10,000 all at once
You also have the problem created by the licensing system , one that means your ability to provide a 50 percent win ratio at home is severely damaged , this is why I don't actually want Leigh to get. Franchise , until we can at least attract 4/5,000 attendances in the Championship , it would simply kill us , and it could kill you as well
Perversly , the only way I can see Leigh ever getting into SL would be if you were to fail , the RFL will take into consideration the Lancs/Yorkshire split when selecting or relegating clubs , ie we will only get in at the expense of another Lancs based club , and you are the weakest , if I was desperate to achieve SL status at Leigh I would want you to fail , and some on here probably think that is the case , it isn't , I do hope you can make it work

Agree with you about the long term aspect and that is the way all teams should be thinking. The club is right to think short term though to maximise revenue as we don't have the fanbase to support long term plans. I'd suspect our conversion rate of turning short term/occasional fans into long term ones is very low, simply because what is on the pitch isn't worth the effort
