| Pressure is on already... yes it was a friendly with first team players missing granted however you look at the teamsheet and alot those players will be in or around the 17 next season. Remember it is also Leighs first game and they were rotating their side too. By comparison, I think a fellow SL side with 8 or 9 starting players in their side would still have beat Leigh today.
Get a bit of a belting off Wigan and lose the opening 2/3 games in SL and there will be some discontent thats for sure. The main issue will be the strength in depth people have already eluded to. Matt Smith should be nowhere near the No.7 shirt, he should be a rotating 9 with Godwin, he is not good enough to be a SL No.7 and having two good games a season does not change that (one wasn't even for us)

Obviously your extra fingers have missed the space bar, dont know how.
You can clearly see from that jibberish the effect inbreeding has had on the children of Leigh.

Really disappointed with the props yesterday. This was a chance for one or two to really make a mark and earn a regular place alongside Cashmere and Feka within the rotation. None of them impressed, and a couple of them need to step up this year unless they want a future playing National League rugby.

Dear Mods
In respect of the imminent exercise in inane platitudes scheduled to deface the Turkey over the coming season, may a separate and specifically high-brow alternative of the forum be made available for those of us that fail to appreciate the finer aspects of mildly racist banter that frequently balls-up, what otherwise is a quality board? No? Get my own board you say?

I wouldn't say leigh was that bad, but if you prefer that moniker so be it.

Good john wilky last looked out
on the pitch at salford.
when the snow lay round about
deep and crisp and even
brightly played the lads that night
though the frost was cruelllll
when poor swinton scored a try

| Yesterday was dire we should be beating Leigh without any problems. The starting 13 were more than capable, but for some reason we just didn't seem like we wanted to be there. In the second half I didn't recognise most of the team so not going to slag the young lads down they tried hard and our scramble defence was good. I'm not too worried though as we have plenty to come back. For me the most worrying thing is the lack of quality cover we seem to have. If any of out so called "big guns" get injured I can see us struggling.
Positives we can take out of the game were the performances of Godwin (Until he got injured) and young Adam clay he looked strong when taking the ball up, made more yards than the props and he backed up well for his try.

i think our props will struggle again this season apart from cashmere they struggle to make many yards, feka will provide some when he comes on but for how long? then youve got neal, jewitt and boyle who are just steady but we need more from them. then theres parker and sidlow who are just not good enough for props. we need the props to provide us with a good platform to attack but if they struggle like they have in previous seasons i can see us struggling again. i hope they prove me wrong but cant see it especially if cashmere or feka get injured

sorry to be off topic but just how bad was the M6! i was going other way...
anyway, wouldnt worry about a first pre-season result. my only question was whether the players looked fit at all? I know all clubs are struggling for training space at the minute

| Lets take yesterday for what it is folks. A warm up match. We could say that we beat Salford but most Leythers really know what would have happened had you had all you squad so don't get to angry over us having our moment of glory. I would have enjoyed yesterday even if we had lost because I love to go and watch Leigh and it's been to long since our last game. Might even get some Salford games in again next year because I will truly miss the Willows after it has gone. Godwin was your best player yesterday and it was a pity he got that knock. I think you will find quite a few Leythers wishing you well for this coming season. Oh and by the way, nice away strip.

| although i'm sure you will all be disappointed with the result. In positive terms you completed most sets, made few errors, didn't give many daft penalties away and defended pretty well at times particularly when scrambling. Bearing in mind the number of substitutions etc... it wasn't all that bad.
I am of course happy we got the win, regardless of who turned out for you lot it should give our guys some confidence early in the season.
Really do wish you all the best for the coming season and hope all goes well with the SL bid (although we are going to be pretty sp on local derbies once widnes go up) I would rather see a lancs team than a yorks team in there!!

Most of them seemed ok. Boyle has some serious work to do IMO he's put a HUGE amount of weight on. He couldn't even run properly he was that flabby
