| I always look forward to this game more than any other. There is always a great atmosphere and Wigan always bring a fair few. It is great when there is a good crowd at the Willows, it is a pity we cant get one more often ourselves without needing others.

Backing up mondays performance with another professional and 100% commited 80 minutes of rugby league is going to be a big challenge but it isnt beyond the players i feel,.
Its all about completing our sets, building pressure and like last week earning the right to play.
Playing the big teams with the big players adds that little extra pressure but for me its all about how the players deal with it, we failed the test @ warrington and coughed up too much ball and made some silly errors im hoping the players learn from that experience sunday.
If we play out our sets, finish them on a positive note with clever and intelegent play and make wigan come out from their own 20 their batteries will run very low very quick.
Physically and mentally we'll need another superleague performance from the players on sunday, can the players produce two on the spin? Do the players have enough left in the tank after 70 minutes of 1st class rugby on monday?
Us fans have our doubts, but we can because we are on the other side of the white line, we'll be there tho when you need lifting, when you have run and tackled yourself into the ground we'll roar you on to one last effort.
But when it comes down to it, it all hangs on how bad you as a player want to succeed and what your willing to do as a individual to get over that line that seperates the winners from everyone else.'"
A very passionate post.
You can guess who will be a marked man tomorrow - Daniel Holdsworth. He's the best you've got IMO. A very clever player who is having a wonderful season for you guys.
A good tactic against our side would be to offload the ball in the tackle as much as possible. As nearly every journalist/fan/coach has pointed out, Wigan tend to have 3 or more players in the tackle. So if your coach has any wits about him he will encourage his skillful players to try to offload the ball as much as possible. It leaves gaps in the defensive line and will cause us some problems. Earlier in the season, Warrington were doing it constantly in the first half and it caused us all sorts of problems. That has been the only game in our season where we have been behind on the scoreboard at half time.
A quick question. Do you guys rate Shaun McRae? Would you rather your chairman (or whoever it was in charge against Huddersfield) to remain in charge? Personally, I've never rated the bloke. Salford are on limited funds and don't have the squad to compete (on paper) against some of the bigger and better squads in the league. So it is crucial that you get the most out of what you've got to be in with a shot of causing some problems in the play offs. John Kear (although an idiot for his comments after our game) does this with great success at Wakefield - especially when you consider the fact Brough has left and Newton has been banned. Plus other tragedies in previous seasons. Shaun McRae has just never cut it for me. Curious what you as fans think of him.

Thanks for asking that, it hasn't been mentioned on this board all season . If you trawl back a page or two you'll find plenty of opinion on Mr Mcrae. Please no-one answer on here as it will completely derail the thread!!!

| Just hope the team come out with the same attitude they had for the Huddersfield game, possibly the best rugby we have seen at the Willows for 18 months, comon Red Men show us what you can do, all the forwards, Jewitt, Sidlow, Boyle, Leuluai Swain & Cashmere were outstanding so lets carry it on. All 17 were immense, but they build the platform that carries us through. Fitzy darting around, D.J. gliding & Stef sliding through the gaps, Malc bulldozing the tackles, lets take it to the next level.

Now cadoo lets not go mad, completion rates are so important these days when trying to get field position, ball and building pressure if we are in wigans 20 say 4th tackle id say push the pass or offloads anything futher out or earlier in the tackle count will be seen imo as rugby league sueicide against the top teams or any team in this division.
Wigan will do exactly the same they will keep asking questions of our players individual defence and as a team, they will get within striking distance and push the pass, make the right decition if your succesful is dependant on if our players can react in a positive way and difuse the danger
thats why your a contender this year and every year because you as a team always manage to ask the right question of a team or a individual at the right time which for you usually comes up with a positive result for you guys
we tried that tactic @ wire, we coughed up too much ball in dangerous areas to us in our half and wire like yourselves have the quality to take advange and the game away from us.
We complete our sets back it up with intellegent rugby league asking questions about your defence, a good kicking game which turns your boys round and makes wigans next set as a "clear your line set" rather than a "building a attacking platform set"
Disapline is the big issue for me, for us to succeed we have to be firm but fair, any cheap penalties will only difuse the pressure on wigan put it on us and put wigan in areas where they can reaily hurt us.
I just hope the players turn up with the same attitude as the huddesfield game that will be a positive result for me.

Of course you have to be intelligent and cautious of when you choose to offload, however you're not going to unlock one of the best defences in the league - if not the best - by being too conservative. Sometimes you do have to throw caution to the wind. St.helens after all could only score when we had Amos Roberts sent to the sin bin and Leeds could only muster one try against us.
The weak link for Wigan today, defensively, is Paul Deacon. He's never been the greatest of defenders and Wakefield scored two of their tries down his side. Tommy Leuluai has always been an awesome defender for a scrum half - which can only be down to him playing hooker in the middle of the park - and Sam Tomkins is also an excellent defender for a stand off. So if you're going to unlock Wigan today it will be down that side.

| Thought Gibson was class first half, putting Goulding in touch i think it was 3 times? Did well not to come out of the line and get lost, unlike Tyrer in the second half.
