| It was much better tonight, and there was certainly a good team spirit and some stand out performances.
A performance like that would beat some of the teams you would expect to be around us in the league, and we may catch a big team on a off day.
As will all Salford performances, if we take into account we have a set of average players, and those players give their all, I will go home happy.

| Both sides poor for me with Salford making rafts of unforced handling errors that let us off the hook after we'd made some of our own. I can't honestly see how either sides fans could be overly pleased with it but then it is pre season and the game was a typical error strewn affair.
As for your best players Matty Smith's kicking game kept pinning us back and he looks like he could have a big year and it was great to see Feka slimmed down and looking fit. He was a similar size for us in 2010 but he never seemed to get enough minutes to show what his new found fitness could do.

| I could see two of your forwards who didn't look like they were giving "their all" to me and it's not the first time I have seen it. Salfords performance last night was 100% better than when you played us the two weeks ago but as I have posted before you need two big agressive forwards to give you that edge and the whole team needs to show a bit of agression. I slated Holdsworth and Smith when you played us but last night they were up for it and it showed. Smithy was barking and running up and down the line. Better, much much better.

| Very encouraged by what I saw last night. Our forwards punched well above their weight, and that is something that has got to happen a lot in the coming months.
Sam Tomkins was the difference between the two sides on the night. Both teams made mistakes and the ball was put down a lot, but there were some impressive performances from the green jerseys. How old is Ben Gledhill? He looked like a man on a mission. He ran hard and straight. More of the same please. Feka looks a new man and his try was thoroughly deserved.
We do rely a lot on the Smith, Holdsworth, Patten triangle, and I would like to see our wingers get more of the ball. Joel Moon looked good, particularly in the first half.
But, many reasons to be cheerful. We won't be playing teams as good as Wigan every week. Well done lads.

| I was impressed by our defence, just need to keep up to and improve on it as the season goes on. however we let the Wigan acting half back to much room around the PTB.
very impressed with Ben Gledhill
If we can attack like wigan did with sweeping back attacks, which worried us every time but good scrambled defence saved us
Overall very pleased with our performance ( thought we were going to get thumped 50-0)

| Really pleased with the performance last night. I wasn't expecting a close result before the game if im honest, but now im riding on the wave of optimism for the new season.
It finally looks like our team is finally getting some fluidity with the backs and forwards being on a similar wavelength.
Feka playing well is brillinat to see, we missed some of his bulldozing runs last season, and we need someone to get the yardage in now Cashmere has gone.
I've been impressed by Moon also and think he has settled in really well recently.
Our good perfromances over the last two games, when put against Castlefords hammering by Wakefield the other day, leads me into our opening game with huge hopes for a win...
I've even managed to talk family members who have never been to a rugby game, yet alone a Salford game into going to Barton to watch the opening game.
COME ON SALFORD!

He's just turned 22. I though him and Feka were immense. The hit him and Holdsworth put on Mossop was brilliant. Spoke to him afterwards and he said he really enjoyed himself against class opposition.
Hopefully he will get a run out against his old team Cas.

It may be a little unfair to single out one player after such a wholehearted display of unity, togetherness and working for each other as we witnessed, but it would be worth the admission money alone if Ben can reproduce
the debut in Stobarts Super League for Salford that he did for Wakefield.
Big well done to the supporters in the South Stand for their vocal encouragement.
As has been alluded to - pride back in abundance !
Now for the peaks and troughs of the months ahead.

| My comment on Ben Gledhill was on reviewing the young bucks and no reflection on a very good team performance

| well im happy with the performance on tuesday night, the players seemed very focused on the job in hand, both in attack and defence there seemed to be a zip about the play which is good to see.
There were some negatives like our inability to clear our lines, nothing to do with our creativity or know how but simply arnt big enough in the forwards to march us up the field.
The effort was there to see from the boys but we need simular efforts and maybe even more in every game this season if we are to build a platform for our backs to do some damage.
Thought Smith was good again, asking questions of the wigans defence making them hold their line before releasing the ball is a skill he seemed to have developed over the off season no dobt helped by Long
Thought Feka was good again, got spotted in attack a lot but after his heroics against Halifax i presumed that Wigan would do a job on him, defensively i though he was outstanding which is a weird thing to say but wigan threw a lot of heavy traffic at him to tire him out and he didnt wilt under the pressure.
I also thought Adamson had a better game than normal, in attack he ran over a few wigan forwards which is a bit of a unusual occurance, hopefully if he continues to show a bit more in attack he will go to the next level imo
Nobody had a bad game and its good to see improvements have occured
It was also good that a bit of an atmosphere got going second half in the south stand, like a "micro-shed" 1st time id been in and its not too bad of a view, its not very steep but its not the worst view in my opinion.
Lots of positives for Tuesday to take to Castleford

I cannot find where it is written or said that the Wigan coach is livid - he just asks for a better performance against Leigh than he saw on Tuesday night. It may,of course, have been due to the application of the Salford players that restricted the performance of Wigan.
I haven't seen any interview with Phil Veivers where he is 'full of the joys of spring'.He has seen an improvement, just as many others have, and I believe his interview shown on the official website has him expecting better by Round 6.
Matt Parish may have made some good signings.Time will tell.

| Matt Parish = Perfectionist and will not be happy untill that is acheived. Phil Vievers = a players coach more inclined to be there for them and praise a defeat. I for one know what I'd rather have....
Whilst perfection would not of been acheived with current playing staff, he certainly told a few home truth who shocked people and Vievers will no doubt take the credit from Mr Parish's words of wisdom that asked certain professional players to look in the mirror.
