Knowledge flies you to the moon, religion flies you into buildings:1217.jpg

Just sidle across to row Q in the west stand, sit with me & Hillbilly Red, we'll make you more than welcome and HBR will delight in explaining the rules (being on of the few in the stadium that knows them having done his coaching badges & ref certificate).
Just maybe, choosing to go in the "posh" seats has had a bit of an effect in colouring your view of the experience (FWIW I too could have made that choice but didn't)
Oh, and if you fancy doing the ale-trail to Huddersfield with us on Good Friday you'd be very welcome.

Quote: GT "I know, I know. I was just responding to your single point with one of my own.
Been to some Salford games for last 2 years, so haven't popped up and berated anyone after 1 game! I expressed how I feel, whether you like it or not that is how I feel and why I haven't committed myself to a season ticket or go more often. I am not working today, can walk to the stadium in 15 mins but have no inclination to do so. For me a big reason for that is coming into contact with people like you, who berate outsiders\ anyone who hasn't supported\lived in Salford since stonehenge. Going to any game is to enjoy your time and interact with others, else I can dit on my sofa with better beer for less.

As to your point about beer\food sales, I believe Salford get a cut of that. Even if they didn't the money goes to the SMC who currently run at a loss, so don't expect them to pay to better the experience when they get nothing back.

On the 8th day, God created Rugby League On the 9th day, Satan created Salford. A battle ensued through to to late on the 12th day. A few hours later, a truce, and on the final stroke of midnight, Code 13 was created... Heaven and Hell combined forces and delivered Salford Red Devils...a legacy is born!!!!!:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_71248.jpg

Can I just add that some people pay extra and opt for the posh seats, not because they themselves are posh or don't want to be in the South stand, but because they may have ailments that placing themselves elsewhere in the stadium would aggravate, resulting in a not too enjoyable experience, not just for them but also for those around them...

Remember the "so called" posh seats also have the added benefit of allowing spectators to be able to watch from inside the vip bar if/when sitting on the padded seats becomes uncomfortable.

Standing in the South stand does not make you a better supporter, nor does being Salfordian for that matter - saying all that though, I truly do miss The Shed

Cheer, might well take you up. My first few games I sat in the stand, but it was comments made that I decided to try the posh seats, not other way around. In fact first game I watched I was in the south stand. Maybe I just attract a certain type. d040.gif

Hang on. GT was expressing his opinion too. You are on a forum after all. But if it makes you feel any better, have these with my complimentshttp://www.inspireafire.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/olive-branch.jpg" >

Hope to see you at many more Salford matches.

Never suggested otherwise. Nor would I slag off anyone in the "posh seats". Plenty of my mates sit up there. I was in the VIP bit last game. Enjoyed it, to be fair. Was good to see the game from a different perspective.

Kiyan - I wasn't out on the attack, merely defending a section of Salford's support and history that you seem to want to dismiss. A club can run itself as a business whilst still keeping the connection with the community, something that is vital to the survival of any club, particularly rugby league clubs. If having a differing opinion and wanting to respond to someone having a dig at two traditional rugby league grounds and their view on traditional RL fans (alright, "some" tradition RL fans) is so out of order to you, then you probably will struggle to fit in. Calling it an "incredible attack" is quite something.

Can I also remind you that your first post on this thread was an attacking one, being extremely dismissive about someone else's opinion.

And finally, Salford have said they get no money from the catering. The SMC have not listened to feedback from a few about the type of food and drink they want to see on. It works both ways... I notice the food in the VIP section is quite good, though, so your target audience is being looked after better than the rest of us already.

I think if any of us went on a Sale forum in a similar manner, we'd get short shrift.

Other Rugby League Clubs are available by the way.

On a serious note, we should as a sport be trying to attract the Kiyan's of this world and my club isn't immune from falling numbers despite the relative success that we've had recently. My message to him is stick with it and get with the right crowd, every team has one and enjoy this sport because on a good day it's hard to beat.

Good grief.

Let's get a handle on this.
I go to Salford for a number of reasons but most revolve around the axes of loyalty and entertainment. The latter is often missing.

As it has been missing from much of this post.

So let's move on and think about tonight's cruncher.

Here lies one of the issues at Salford.

To/too/two much infighting.

I think we as a team should start running out to "One Love" and try and foster some Bonhomme.

The Willows was a hole, but it was ours, Barton is not as bad as some mention but it doesn't feel like home, for all the promises of making it feel more like the Willows inside it still fails miserably.

There were tools who attended games at the Willows but it didn't seem as prevalent, for some reason the loons seem too stand out more at Barton.

I once at the Willows stood with my mate and were joined by a couple from New York, they had been told about Salford by the hotel concierge and loved every second of it, I actually enjoyed explaining what was happening and they couldn't believe what they were watching. Maybe the club could introduce a buddy system, anyone new expressing an interest through the club of attending a game could tag along with someone and get the feel of the game through an experienced voice, I know I'd not have an issue doing so and besides it would always be their round icon_wink.gif

Sorry to go slighty of track, with beer and food being mentioned. If SRD had a stall outside the ground with the other vans, would people be more inclined to use those services?

If it was nicer beer yes.

I still say the Doc missed a trick by not investing on a food and drink outlet nearby, Greene King will grab the profits no when it could easily have been linked to the club and possibly a hotel.

Definitely the beer behind the stands for the Hull game was as flat as a witches t1t. Green King must surely offer better quality.
