| Would we be getting money for him though? I'd suspect there's a hint of letting him go to get another of the highest wage earners off the books. If he went along with Patten and Feka you'd think there was only Moon (if he stays) and Anderson of the big money earners left. Tight was money may be I'd be reasonably confident that would leave us more to spend on wages than most people would think for next season.
As the Butcher says his heart isn't in it so I'd give someone with a point to prove of wanting to make a name for himself a go as frankly since Smith left we've been rudderless and not had anyone guiding us round the park.

| "as frankly since Smith left we've been rudderless and not had anyone guiding us round the park"
I remember arguing that Smith was a good half-back and postyers on here, the usual whingeing pack, arguing he was an average player and anyone who said otherwise did not understand the game.
I agree with the above two posters but feel we are losing our life blood for the future.

| Try to think of game recently where you thought Holdsworth made a huge difference.
He has not been bothered about playing for Salford for a long time.
We need a bigger pack to support the halves and then we might get somewhere.
With him and Patten gone we will have money to do this.

| As long as we hold onto Longy, incoming halves would have the best tutorship available imo. Whoever it may end up being, they surely couldn't fail to make personal improvement under his guidance?
We really need some beef up front to let our backs breathe.

Couldn't agree more, for me the biggest priority is a couple of big bruiser props I don't want one who will go the length of the field I'd be much happier having two Dai Youngs rumbling forward and protecting those behind them.
As for Long I'd be very happy to see Brierley, Fages and the other young backs at the club under the guidance of such a genius.
One thing has struck me is that we are all worried that players are leaving it does strike me that maybe Vievers wants to bring in people who thinks will do the job he requires rather than inherit people signed by a no mark like SM.

Brierley has signed a 2 year deal with Leigh.

With a get out of jail free card if any SL teams wants him apparently. I guess it would depend if Long thinks he has what it takes.

| Eccles star you are a total fool, you have no idea what is going on behind the scenes, are you failing to realise the player wants away nothing we can do can stop him, he is trouble and so is his mate patten. The players play for money and if agents (patten) dangle carrots in front of players what do you expect will happen,Salford are not one of the big clubs we have to sell to survive simple as that, and by the way show me the q of people wanting to take the club over and maybe you can critisize the current chairman until then off.

| If true and he does want away then the best thing the club can do is to cash in

| With the huge recruitment going on at Hull you'd think they have plenty of players being cut. Before we except any cash for him I'd be looking at who is being released or could be prised away.

I think you possibly mean accept and not "except" any cash.

Brett Seymour will be the only one under contract we will look to get rid. Seeing as longy recently called him (wrongly IMO) the worst halfback in SL then I don't think you will interested.
Tickle might leave as he wants to move back to lancashire, bu think widne are after him and will pay a fee.
Omeley and aspinwall are both ooc and would be good signings for salford.
Also mcgoldrick will hopefully be available

| I think there was an O'Meley rumour earlier on this season. Definitely the sort of player we've lacked this season in my opinion.
