Salford is a Broadway musical
You might not believe me but Salford IS a Broadway musical
The set is low budget
The cast didn't go to RADA
The audience don't clap politely like sea lions begging for fish
They're Rocky Horror rowdy
And the worst reviews come from those who haven't even seen the show.: |
|
| Its all about Mr Sheens mate, players want to play for him...including the English guys, his reputation within the game is second to none.
As for the gent who posted earlier, not aware of anyone refusing to sign at all, just needed to tie Sheens up first.
Also Hansen met Leigh last night I am led to believe although the door is still open if he wishes.
Cory Reni and probably Chase are all bound for Leigh..comment about Reni not wanting to play to SL standard is spot on, fair play to him.
The other two must be drawn to outspoken Chairmen...and by outspoken I obviously mean gobe.

| Oh that's it remembered, think the other signing is Kopczak.
Hope I wasn't being fed crap but he's usually 100% accurate so don't doubt him on any of them, guess we will find out in five days or so.

| I'd be seriously impressed if we got Parker. Still has loads to offer, plus experience, kicking, and a great work rate.
Seems like too big a name for me though, unless of course, the Sheens factor is drawing-in names that wouldn't have given us a second sniff? Time will tell I suppose.
I've supported Salford for too long not to be skeptical!

| Likewise, lived through far too many false dawns over several decades but all I can say is the source is 100% normally, has been for last two seasons.
Apparently the cost of the majority of the 8 signings is equal to the wage bill of Chase and Locke combined and Parker is a big mate of Sheens otherwise we would have no chance.
Without wishing to sound ungrateful I still think were short in the back row compared to this season so if HH decides to stick around it would be a blessing.
Only 5 days til we find out I guess so fingers crossed until then.

| Do you not think with the amount of players leaving and even with the promotion of youngsters, that we are going to be left short in terms of quality and personnel (like this season but without all the issues)?

Hard question to answer until we see the make-up of next seasons squad.
One thing's for certain, the young lads will have a guilt-edged opportunity to cement themselves in the first team. I think if that you work hard and impress Sheens he'll reward that with first choice status. I also think that no matter who you think you are if you don't put the performance in then you'll drop down the pecking order. Something that can only be a good thing in producing a winning mentality within a group of players.

| I would agree there Butcher - a case in point being Junior who produced an effort at Widnes far above his performances in the latter part of the campaign.

| We've not signed Corey Parker. I've heard some wild rumours regarding potential signings since Koukash took over and Parker is as wide of the mark as the rest of them. Haven't signed him, wont be signing him. Lets move on.

If he is one then you see straight away the Sheens effect on the signings, doubt he would have come without him pulling the strings.'"
Yes it would be good to get Parker, but not a 34 year old.And why if we get Parker should he be captain.Give it Evades and we have a captain for 10 years.

| Why is Parker not signing Mario, you feeling a tad miffed because he wasn't one of the top 101 targets you mentioned in the MEN??
And for what it's worth I personally think Parker is just the signing the club need real professional, what Sheens was basically referring the type of player the club needs on / off the field.
At 33 yes not ideal but could quite easily do a couple if years at SL level and a perfect kicking game.

| Parker for me would be a good signing even at 33/34 yrs old, one season wud be good we option for second.
The Superleague is not as intense as the NRL and i think he would do well for us.
But to be honest i dont think it would happen.Rather see Robbie Farrah who has a few more seasons left in him.
As for Captain, young Nail would be great as RED EYES says , if we can keep hold of him , a capt for a long time.

| Are people really suggesting Nial for captain! Good grief. One of his areas for improvement would for him to be mote vocal and dominant in directing the defence. This maybe be down age and maturity and will come with time so it's not a major issue. He also seems to be an all round nice guy, not sure I'd want that in a captain, I'd want someone who plays hard and rightly or wrongly, always in the refs ear, beleive it or not they do influence the ref. Looks at the clubs renowned for it, Saint, Wilkin, Wigan, Sean O, Mickey Mac, Joel T, no doubt the returning Sam T will have words with the chaps in middle. Leeds, Sinfield, Maguire, Peacock. I could name more players, but those clubs tend to get more of the 50/50 calls, maybe a coincidence?
As for Nial, just let the kid flourish and play rugby and in few years maybe he could be a good candidate for captain.

This.
Evalds for captain is laughable.
