I think that may have been due to the fact that Marc Sneyd had passed the magic age of 22.
As I understand it Theo Fages is NOT passed the Compensation Expiry Date.
C1
Seems Messrs.Wilkinson and Simms did something correctly.

Isn't that for players out of contract, both players were under contract so it's up to the clubs to decide the price.

| Is it Harris? I would be suprised if he didn't upset a player or two but that's going to happen with any coach.
In his defence, I'd say he has had the hardest coaching weeks of any SL coach for a long time: coaching and preparing injured players with no respite and little choice of who to play. Before prosecution I would want to know more about the full management structure at Salford; the formal and informal procedures in place to support the players.
That's why I want the Doc to open up about what is happening. The club depends on the players and their welfare: a brief look at Warrington or Wigan (and, it seems, Saints and Widnes) show that they have gripped the fact that sportspersons have to be supported to be at their best over any event. I am not suggesting cossetting but welfare. The Doc has mangement experience beyond most of us and surely knows this.
Unfortunately, the Hock, Puletua, Hunte, Locke, Tasi, and Fages stories suggest something else. Some of these may be the result of ambitious players, simple staff change, or a round peg in a square hole. However, and the Locke media stories are crucial here, there is a suggestion that dialogue is not happening. Therefore my comment of "serf". I would not accept my employer using the media as it has been used with Locke or Puletua (the latter by hints).
I accept that this could be a number of different matters happening in one season (like the injuries and the suspensions) that we wrongly see as linked. Only one person can make it clear and is not. Please make it clear what is happening. We are your customers.

Forget this kind of money it's pittance for a young international halfback with a big future. If there are 8 clubs sniffing I'd be looking for the best swap deal offer.
I'm sure if the doc targeted a few of the very best young players in Superleague, offered them big bucks and told them put in a transfer request, clubs wouldn't be willing to sell for 100K. Would Leeds let Sutcliffe go for 100K? Or Williams at Wigan? Or Greenwood at Saints? These clubs would be in fits of laughter with such a derogatory offer.

Tom Lineham, with 2 full years left on his contract has just signed for Warrington for £125,000. He's a far bigger name and arguably a far higher calibre of player. Salford would be lucky to get £75,000 for Fages currently.

Lineham has recently been criticized for his performance and is a winger. One who has had 2 lengthy absences due to injury.Warrington recently sold, for 50k, a hooker who is 34 yrs of age.
Theo Fages is 20 yrs of age and has, apparently, the same agent as Hock so is more than likely to change his mind, more than once, about wanting a transfer.
Looks like Saints may have to risk money on another homesick Aussie;or at least pay a reasonable amount of transfer cash.

| Wingers are ten a penny. You only have to look around Super League to see how many good ones there are, Makinson, Swift, Burgess, Charnley, Manfredi, Hall, Briscoe, Murphy, Broughton, McGillvary, Lineham, Jones Bishop and so on. Quality half-backs aren't so popular, particularly 20 year old quality half-backs with over 10 years left in their career and the potential Theo has.
We sold Marc Sneyd for £125k remember...

It's Ok saying that but what are the others options, you either have a player who doesn't want to be there and might not put everything into his game or a player sat in the stands taking up a decent chunk of the salary cap.
Plus didn't you sell Sneyd for a a similar amount and I would say he is a better player than Fages is with more potential IMO.

Erm, the number one reason why players are wanting out and we may struggle to attract top players is Marwan, pure and simple fact..
A sports team owner should be seen and not heard
A sports team owner should not get involved in the dressing room
A sports team owner should not publicly criticise any player, regardless of his feelings
A sports team owner should show respect towards ALL corporate sponsors, not just the ones who worship him
A sports team owner should never slag off the fans of his club
Most importantly, a sports team owner has the number one task of ensuring he, and his senior business management people have a solid foundation to deliver and maintain a Duty of Care to not only the players but also the club, sponsors and fans alike - this I'm afraid is where Marwan has let the club down
Many will disagree but that's my opinion on the situation

You're spot on Paul.
Marwan is so close, yet so far from turning Salford into a genuine force in Super League. You can ultimately blame the coach, but if Koukash changed his attitude and approach to his ownership we would see a sudden upturn. However, he cant help himself and that is fundamentally where he and we will fail.
I'm kind of hoping that if Harris is sacked and someone of the stature of Tim Sheens comes on board, he will have enough about him to put Marwan in his place and intimidate him a little due to his reputation.
It's so frustrating because some simple changes from the owner could reap huge benefits.
I totally sympathise with the players at the moment and can understand their desire to move on.

Well you also have to factor in that Saints are a champion team and there is a person on their coaching staff who knows about our talent.
