| Quote: Wirecutter "Quote: Wirecutter "Thought howarth had another stinker tonight costing us two tries. Don't like that artificial pitch I know both sides have to play on it etc but as the home side playing every week you must be able to judge it better. All credit the the Vikings though they look a useful side'"
I agree Widnes played to their full potential and are enjoying a purple patch.'"
Got to say, you can see a visible difference whenever Howarth is on the pitch, the whole structure falls apart. I just can't get my head around sending Owen out on loan keeping hold of Howarth. If there's two players I definitely don't think are super league material one's Howarth and the other is Dixon.
A big problem seems to be concentrating for the full set of six, way too many times we are letting the opposition make cheap ground on the last tackle. Oh, and we need to get control of the ruck a lot better than we are currently doing, but it looked like Widnes should have been penalised for constantly taking a second bite of the cherry after making the tackle. Although they seemed to play to what the ref would allow them to get away with.
Plus points, we seemed, with the exception of a couple of soft tries, the more physical team tonight, and there were some really good strong carries from Walton and Sau out wide. With a little more concentration we'd have won that tonight. The signs are there.

| Quote: Bruce_Forsyth "Widnes are a mid table, mediocre side with no money and even less fans.
Yet they took your expensively assembled outfit apart with alarming ease.'" To be fair it's a completely new team and most players haven't even played 3 games together. Injuries haven't helped either because we have had to use no fewer than 23 players already.

How dare a businessman wanting to invest in our sport. Salford rugby league club was in fine health before this horrible man appeared.

| Take Hock,Chase,Meli,Sau,Rapira and Griffin out of any 17 man match day squad and there's bound to be a problem.
Thought Walton had a big game

Yes, especially losing two players to injury tonight had an impact.
Agree Walton did really well and Johnson and Hansen also didn't deserve to be in a losing team. Question marks over Williams and howarth still for me though. Widnes were the better team and deserved the win but I saw enough to be optimistic we will win at least one of our next two home games.

This is what amuses me about some of the so called 'expert' opinions from fans of other teams. Apparently we don't have any depth whatsoever, yet we managed to put in a half decent performance missing our starting stand off, 2nd row, centre, a decent bench prop option and also picking up injuries to our loose forward and another centre in the game. Take the equivalent out of other teams who supposedly have better depth and they're still going to find it hard going after getting injuries to key players in those positions.

| Hansen was outstanding for Salford and their clear stand out player.
I thought Morley was playing too many minutes tonight, he looked shattered at times. Also the Salford backs don't seem to know what the half-backs are doing.
Doc looked far from happy at the end of the game.

I'm sorry, but having decent depth means having players out and still being able to win games like vs widnes (no disrespect to widnes, but according to those very same "experts" weren't going to get close to even challenging for a top 8 spot.) The only key position you were missing was your standoff (who whilst is very good, shouldn't be the be all and end all) - if meli wasn't injured, he should of been dropped after his saints performance!
You missed hock (I only have the saints game to compare to) and with him and chase you might of looked a bit perkier - BUT they wouldn't of stopped you conceding 30+ points either.
Injuries in game were a bit of a blow for you, as they would any team, but smith was poor (you seriously need to figure out any sort of kicking game) and the rest were okay (some good moments, and 1 very good) I'm not sure there's a lot to suggest if they had remained it would of been a different result (it's not like the widnes tries were "tired" tries, they were well constructed)

I like him week in week out he comes on and gives his best to try and get a bite bless him. If I've won the prize then I'd take him for a happy meal that way he gets a free toy to keep him occupied

This isn't the NRL. Most teams in Super League don't have a huge amount of quality outside of their regular starting 17. Before the season started we were held as some sort of lone example of a team with paper thin depth and people were using it to state that we won't have any success this season. Take 4 or 5 of a normal starting 17 out of a team and they're going to experience problems, especially when two of them are arguably their best players.

| the problem with a team containing a rangi chase-esque player is that you tend to base a lot of your plays around him (see: cas for the past 4 years) and as soon as he steps off that field/doesn't play, your game goes to hell. i hope noble isn't expecting him to create everything for you guys..
