| I see Leigh is close to selling out for tomorrows game with over 10,000 tickets sold already.
I dont think parking is as big a deal as people are making out, granted it is an inconvinience but with the airport, Eccles RL and Eccles RU there is ample parking around the stadium. It just means a 10-15 minute walk instead.

I remember once some of us walked all the way from ' Willows Rd ' .
I used to Park Near Hope & walk for games at the Willows so no real difference.

Not sure that's really the point.
We have an out of town stadium with adequate on site parking, which can't be used.
Not everyone is able to comfortably walk that distance.

| From the stadium fb page.
With regard to parking at the stadium on Thursday, as many of you have asked.
We can not offer any match by match parking for this event as the main car is under the jurisdiction of the RFL
Our overspill car park on the south stand has been allocated to the RLWC volunteers and entertainment for this particular game
We have over 150 children attending as part of the festival and a large volume of entertainers
We therefore suggest that all people driving to the stadium use City airport for £5 per vehicle or Eccles RL & RU grounds for £2.50 per vehicle
There is a travel plan in pace to accommodate spectators traveling from both directions, please use the shuttle bus services provided – there is no need to book. From Irlam use the bus stop at The Ship Inn and from Eccles the bus stop next to the metrolink. There will be volunteers out and about to help assist you with travel and direct you to the right pick up points
West One car park is a park and ride alternative
Our "car parking" space has been dramatically reduced as the building works on the road increase, the north stand will be for stadium staff and coach parking. Should we park cars on the north stand we would not be able to offer coach parking and the time taken to get off the car park would be upto an hour and a half - hence the shuttle buses we have put on and the alternative car parking we have arranged off site. We anticipate the Trafford centre light switch on may cause congestion around that area so have not promoted park and ride from that area although the 100 bus is still running from bay 4 if people chosse to go there. We have probably more car parking available than any other venue but we really need to encourage early arrival and need to promote public transport. With regard to disabled parking we are in contact with the RLWC to establish who already has a parking place and who we need to call back and try to accomodate them

this is how a responsible organiser addresses parking concerns.
they have 1500 free car parking spaces and have put links & maps to additional parking within easy reach .
SCS bid & won the USA Scotland event, had a year to organise & sell tickets yet wait until the last week to inform anyone parking on site was verboten ..

Well put,if the various stadium companies were in a league set up such as other sports ours would be in the Conference North and would be in the relegation spot, with no chance of staying up.
At the England Italy game our party paid for a car park ticket the week previous and on the day it appeared that we were the only ones who paid to park as the stewards were just waiving people through and never asked to see our ticket.

| Just contemplating Thursday's game and thinking this could do wonders for our crowds next season.
Cheap as chips tickets coupled with a game that has two unfancied teams fighting well above their weight, allied to a few local connections means for the people in the know in the crowd there is plenty to keep you interested, when you then throw in that we are apparently looking at one of the USA players (though for me Mark Offerdahl is someone we should be looking at) and it's a great fix for my thirst for RL before the inevitable Salford march towards world domination.
For the new people in the crowd if the games that have been served up already isn't enough to wet your appetite then I really don't know what will tempt people to watch RL at a club level after the world cup have ended.

It's now looking to be a very important match, with Tonga winning last night and Italy only drawing v Scotland. I am going (hoping to buy a ticket on the night) and already am going to Halifax.
Interesting tweet from Tanya Arnold: "Someone in the USA camp is now hastily rebooking flights and finding hotels etc. The squad was set to go home on Friday #bbcrl"
before you think I can tweet: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-league/24513567

| Watched last nights game in work so couldn't really take it all in but watching back this morning makes you wonder how long before someone in SL takes a punt on Chris Taripo from the Cook Islands, big with loads of pace and one cracking hat trick in a losing team.

Taripo is with Newtown Jets a feeder club to the Sydney Roosters ,
I still can't believe the 40metre bowling ball try Konrad Hurrell scored, worth the ticket fee on its own.

| What impressed me about Taripo was his work rate. Late in the game he was still coming into the middle to make carries from inside in his own 20 metres line. His try and touch line conversation was sensational. So far our recruitment has not been imaginative. I can understand why we have recruited who we have but we are in a position where we can take a punt on one or two unknowns with raw talent from the RLWC to complement the signings we have made.
Ive been to the games at Leigh & Rochdale and they have been the best games of rugby league I have witnessed in years. Played in vibrant atmospheres with a healthy mix from hardcore rugby league supporters to complete novices. Tomorrow is a perfect opportunity to sell our new stadium to supporters whether they be stay aways from the Willows days or people not familar with the sport. If we are able to replicate the match day occassions I have witnessed so far it would be a great selling point, far more impressive than any Salford games in the last two seasons. It could be the ideal platform for this 'red devil revolution'. I have not seen much evidence so far that this will happen but will hold judgement until tomorrow night.

the only player I can recall Salford have signed on the strength of a World Cup performance was Fata Sini following his game for Western Samoa against England in the 1995 world Cup ( RU )

Wasn't Ali Davys signed on the back of impressing for the Cook Islands in the 1995 Emerging Nations World Cup?
