I'm a member & I know what's goin on, think anyone with common sense realise there is going to be new owners whatever happens.
It's going to be a takeover or administration so which ever, the end of the present owners & board is inevitable.
I don't want to see the end of the club, but the club as we know it won't exist & think that's why forever reds are doing the fundraising to make sure there is a club to still support when whoever takes over.
Think they have learnt from the Bradford fiasco & won't part with any money until they are sure it is going in the right place.
At least some of the fans are getting of backsides & doing something, the saying springs to mind Them that moan & do nowt shouldn't moan at all.

I agree with you,but other people are waiting to see what happens, and surely that's there right, some people think
we are only propping up the present incumbents.and some of these have watched this club for years.

Quote: Bully_Boxer "In the interests of fairness you should also remember that the Bradford situation was somewhat different to that of Wakefield. The shareholding of the club was split and went something like a quarter to Caisley, just under a quarter to Hood, another quarter split between half dozen individuals and the rest was made up of hundreds of small fan shareholders many of whom might not even have still be alive.

Once the 500K was raised, Hood was adamant that he had further investment ready to come in. However an EGM was called by Caisley to oust Hood and he had the backing of enough shareholders to do that. So any investment he may have had was never going to succeed once Caisley called the EGM. Where we would have been it Hood had of been of successful I'm not sure. Coulby then became acting Chairman and took the club into administration.

I'm not sad to see the back of Hood or Caisley and the club does seem to be making good progress under new management. The true test will be in the next few years though.

I wish Salford the very best of luck though and fully understand the desperation and pain you're all feeling right now. You will get know it alls telling you what you should be doing but there are no guarantees that it will work out the same. We had many telling us that the supporters trust should have raised the money and bought the club. It's hard enough to get supporters to join the board to organise events for fund raising, never mind taking on the running of a SL club.

Just my personal thoughts though and I sincerely hope you find a solution and I hope to visit your ground in happier times in May.'"

You just read the genuine thoughts of one of the most sensible Bulls fans you could ever meet.

From personal (and expensive) experience, I endorse every word of what he said. Other than to add that Caisley intervened to IMO effectively totally undermine the Hood regime's efforts a day or so before the pledge deadline. One day maybe the whole truth about what really happened, and whether or not it was all engineered as part of the internecine wars, will come out.

I sincerely hope you guys do not suffer from the vermin shareholder politics that IMO destroyed Bradford. If you can avoid that corrosive corrupting internecine strife then you must have a good chance. Good luck. And ignore the know-alls from Wakey and elsewhere who know all the answers but never actrually had to do it themselves.

Oh, and I hope that those who were really responsible for what happened at Bradford rot in the very darkest, deepest pits of hell for all eternity.

Well to be honest that statement is not strictly true.

Who knows what is going on behind the scenes?

John Howard & Ian have a lot to lose if Admin/Liquidation so I would guess they will be looking at every avenue available to them. I know I would in the circumstances.

The key date is Monday January 7th when matters will crystallise I feel.

That's why it's best to not part with the cash, let them sink in their squaller.

If only you knew how to spell squalor you might (that's might!) have a bit more credibility.
We do know on the council/Peel proposals that the existing directors loans were to be converted to equity and transferred at zero value - I.e written off - I'm not aware of any change to that proposal.

You really are a bellend, aren't you? I'm no Wilky lauder, in fact I hold him personally responsible for the mess we're in, and I'm uneasy about donating in the current climate. But to question the integrity of FR and the people involved? F*cking scandalous, sunshine. Still, it's easier to sit on the sidelines and snipe than try and do anything positive, isn't it?

Please don't quote said bellend - what's the point of me studiously avoiding members of the cock club if you do a thing like that.

Think the obvious answer to all this to see the bigger picture ergo do people want a Salford to watch or not.

Comes down to a simple yes or no and nothing much else really.

You can debate the merits and pitfalls of donating money under the current climate, and I've got my own view on things. But the question I'd ask myself is this...

If we hold onto our hard earned cash because we're skeptical of how it will be used, we may end up having no Club at all. It would be a shame to look back with hindsight in a few months time and say that you'd wished you'd put that few quid in when you could.

On the other hand, it may be just throwing into the wind and the inevitable is going to happen anyway.

The big question is which way you're going to lay your bets on this big money game?

Surely it's better to try regardless of circumstances than not try at all... After all, it's the Club we want to save. The people running it will change soon enough, but if the Club goes it goes for good, regardless of what may or may not happen if the Club was to be reborn in a different guise. Which I think, if it happens, would mean the death of any ideas of top flight RL in my lifetime.

All well.and good TB , but when you really are looking at giving the max you can afford despite monetary restrictions already ( I'm sure the majority of us have better things to spend the spare cash on) then its even more important that the money isn't being thrown away.

As I mentioned on fb. For my money I will expect full clarity from the board on what is owed, who to and full details of the robust plan. I would also, without exception, expect a place on the board for the supporters trust. Failure in any of this then my limited and very hard earned money stays in my account.

Quote: Bonita Red "If JW comes out and says that paying off the winding up order is a good use for spending supporters hard earned cash,I'll concede the point.'"

I get the impression that it will be what is required to please the players and coaching staff - it will also buy some time until further monies are found.
I did read recently that Mr Glover,at Wakefield, where the only followers, prior to this thread being started, have demonstrated any empathy and sympathy for SCR fans, paid three hundred thousand pounds of another persons debt when he took over WTW.
Forever Reds are retaining the money.
Can we just donate,please ?
We need to show the same loyalty to the cause as demonstrated by the coaching staff and the players.
Don't waste energy on what cannot be changed.
No one likes us ! Just show that WE care. group-hug.gif

What a lot of people are still waiting for is a answer to the question of where this money is going, this has still not been given.
I would rather start up the club from scratch as I have said previously than pay off two players one of whom did not fulfill the terms of his contract anyway.
If FR have raised nearly 30K in just over a week and also at a time when most people are skint, what the fook have JW and the board been doing for the past 6 months !

Regarding the foundation fund, it could be anything. Anything that helps the current company afloat. Does that include paying the petition amount if it came to it? Probably. It's likely we are not going to know in advance. This is where Salford fans are split

Bear in mind, this isn't a piece of cake. And if it's left to us, we'd be behind Swinton for a considerable amount of time. I'd help make it happen but many others wouldn't — including some on here who flippantly say they would.
