Nice one RJ, a beacon of light in these dark times! Now this will be my last comment on a certain Mr Platt until his signing is confirmed/officially denied. WTF does he offer apart from a cheap wage? I have absolutely no idea what Viewers may see in him. Can anyone more knowledgeable put me straight on this?

You may be right on that Scott but if that is the case why didn't we keep someone like Andy Morris instead from the u20's? Going back to the squad Adamjk has listed, I thought the likes of Holmes, Davidson etc had been released? Also, I was under the impression we'd signed Sam Barlow from Fax?

Wiithout being detrimental to Josh Vievers, his dad evidently has wasted a year's salary based purely on nepotism. I know we have the benefit of hindesight but when the signing was announced everyone knew this was a bad signing,no wonder the club is on it's knees in debt when they waste budgeted monies on nepotism rather than spending monies on benefiting the club in other areas.

don't think Michael Platt club trained tag would be the motive even though he made his 1st team debut with Salford in 2001.
He's only 28 and has 7 seasons of SL experience with Cas & Bradford , and the utility tag , he can cover Full Back , Centre or Wing if required, and he still lives in Manchester, Oh and maybe Bradford are willing to offload him for one of our forwards..
We're not exactly awash with cover in the backs -Nero- Gibson - Gleeson , anyone expect them to make it through the season unscathed? Platt , and a possible loanee Jack Murphy with only a couple of 1st team starts for Wigan. provide some cover.

I know this thread is for transfer rumours but this one isn't a rumour - Adam Walne has signed for Workington Town, it's on his Twitter page.

How can it be nepotism ? Did he replace Patten in the early part of the season when Patten was playing well and high up the table for the Albert Goldthorpe Medal ? No !
Was the young man willing to put on a Salford shirt ? Yes. Has he been prepared to go to 2 Super League clubs which were experiencing financial/off field problems at the time ? Yes.
Did he progress through the Wigan Academy ? Yes.
The young man has been prepared to drop down into the Championship at Whitehaven to continue to learn his trade;play in the Salford Under 20's in a pretty good 2012 campaign and not once has he gone public on any complaints about SCR.
He has the added facet to his game of goal-kicking which the first team suffered with.
He also goes about his game while he must acknowledge how good his biological father was and the pressure on him when selected in the first team.
He did score a try in France on what may have been his Salford Super League debut but I haven't verified that.

We need to build with the future in stead of signing players near the end of there careers because in the end we would be wasting money on players again which won't benefit finances. Signing 30 plus players is risky and are more suseptable to injuries. Admittedly sign experience but we don't want to sign players near end of carer and try and bring youth and experience. At the moment rumours off transfers just looks like we are going down are usual line of dads army. That can't help finances when we did this in past they spend more time on treatment table. And that would be more costly in the plight are club is in.

Yeah, cos the last time we had a team with a 'Dad's army' tag we only finished 6th in the league . Not sure we are - for the forseeable future - in any position to moan about the calibre of player we can attract. WE NEED BODIES!
