| Times have been hard. I regard this as a positive. Martin Gleeson was a class centre. If he comes anywhere near his International form he will go well for us.
I hope it's the first of several positives. God knows we need them.

| Take this as a positive step. Give him a chance. I would have liked him at Cas Tigers.

Clearly proven ability, can he deliver again at this stage in his career?'"
He's had a few, ahem, periods of rest, in his career which may have slowed down the wear and tear compared to the average 32 year old RL player.

If true, delighted for him as I feel he was very unlucky with regard to the incident at Hull.(Interesting to note that the others, who I feel were more culpable, are already back in the sport - at clubs I hope we target to defeat )
If press reports are to be believed MG had an opportunity to get more money at other clubs - particulalrly in the other code - BUT,he has remained loyal to our 2 members of the coaching staff, and our sport.
That makes 3 people, for certain, after what has and is going on,extremely loyal to Salford City Reds.
Great signing.Point to prove and will want to do it for respected friends.

| I question this signing as we need half backs and props more than we need a centre that may be disruptive. So this signing baffles me

He's played stand-off on occasion.

| If true it's a pure quality signing, I couldn't give two hoots what he's done in the past, I'd rather him be here than at any other club.
If he'd not been a naughty boy he would still be at Wigan and pulling on International jerseys, and I wouldn't be surprised (form allowing) if he makes the 2013 world cup.

How can you class Gleeson as loyal. What a pathetic statement. He had no choice but to sign for us. He might of had offers from the kick n clap brigade but that would of been a massive gamble for him making a change from the game he's used to playing. He's signed for us because his mate has got him a job nearer home on a two year contract keeping him in superleague plying his trade, nothing to do with Loyalty to Salford or rugby league, if there is loyalty it's probably on Long's part.
I think the signing proves and shows we still accommodate Dad's Army contenders looking to put their feet up with a big fat cigar.
Like i said on another thread people who want to play for Salford are Local upper coming lads with something to prove or someone looking for that last contract coming towards their retirement. FACT....

| He's not signed yet .. just a small matter of ' takeover' .
but if true ,Surprisingly Salford are not his only options - RU , Catalans and likely another SL club or two. I would expect Long would be 99% of the reason it's Salford.
I'm leaning to believe in Sean after the effect on our style of play last season , and will have to trust to veivers to keep the regime so he doesn't go off the rails.
Anyone who read into the history of his ban whilst at Hull may understand he was ' badly advised ' rather than knowingly doing something wrong.
As to the age comment .I remember smirking when Bradford brought Steve Menzies over as a 35 yrs old, 39 in December with a new 1 year contract at Catalans.

| We're talking Martin Gleeson here not Steve Menzies, Menzies is a legend of the game back home some players are an acception to the rule. Name me a three quarter who was mustard in his mid 30's at Salford only Gary Jack comes to mind with me, Gleeson's nowhere near that calibre.

George Carmont played to 34 and was still a class above centre 10 years his junior
Gene Miles was 32 when he sign for Wigan , wasn't a bad player I believe
I'm sure they'll be a few more if we had a good think
