| Bingo.
But it was for the person who decided he should be sacked to answer.
He was brought in to sort out those background tasks because the chairman didn't have enough time to devote to it, and had been making a bit of a balls of it (players with ridiculous contracts, players signed on the basis of short video clips, that sort of thing).
So, should the OP be successful in his/her mission to get Steve Simms sacked, perhaps s/he could tell us who would take on that workload. Oh, and provide evidence that Simms has been doing a poor job, otherwise the club could be up for unfair dismissal.

| What do all the top clubs do,who don,t have a Teflon Ted.We now know the Chairman was not speaking to Parish,
If he started talking to the coach,he would not need a go between, then he would be getting the facts first hand,he could
then get Mr Tarry to do more. Then Simms is salary could go where It should be player recruitment. even the apologist
for Mr Simms no this to be true.If the top clubs can work without a Director of Rugby so can we.Do we think Smith at
Warrington would be answering to a Simms like figure,I don,t think so,so why should are club, a Director of Rugby at Salford,is just a waste of money,If there was a survey done,of the 3,000 of us with question do we need him.I am sure
the the reply would be a BIG NO.

| just thought i would comment on this subject as i know Karl Harrison told my brother that he was stabbed in the back by Simms and he has never or never will speak to him again. Apparently Simms has been the problem for a number of years but JW will hear none of it......so you might be ing in the wind trying to oust him !!

| I not one for picking on individuals for the mess we are in but lets look at SS track record over the past 24 months
1) signs a player without conducting a medical
2) sends mal alker home from a training session without understanding the employment law behind doing this
3) from some 10 overseas signing in the past 24 months only 2 have been a success, one of whom as gone back to oz ed off with the club
4) signs a coach after spending weeks in Oz at a cost of thousands who last 6 games, before strangely doing a runner
Now there may be many postive aspects to this man and his work and im open minded enought to listen to them, but until then im happy to back the campaign to get this fella back to oz.
One things for sure with or without him i'll be a Barton next season because i love the club

And no training kit at beginning of preseason, I'm just think being the head of the football department this kind of think would be sorted.
Personally i feel a redeployment would work better Ss would be "player and coaching welfare officer", he still does his thing looking after players, negotiate contracts with new players and old players with the coaches blessing, looking after coaches requests for players ect but the coach HAS final say and goes to the board with his requests and they can turn it down or accept it based on if we can afford it rather than if its a good idea or not.
The coach speaks to the media. He tells us how it is and Ss just does his business quietly in the background, if the coach gets sacked then the board can appointee another one with the help of Ss in his new role.
At the moment in my eyes he advises the board what is a good and bad idea and no experienced coach will come to salford if he has to run his ideas past ss 1st.
The coaches head is on the block and he should live and die by his decition

How many of these really happened (or happened the way they've been reported on here) and how many are just message board rumours? Remember, if everyone on here who claims to know what's happening inside the club really did know, we'd have had a completely different squad of players and a completely different coach last season.

I don't know what they do. You obviously do otherwise you wouldn't spend so much time on here telling us Steve Simms is surplus to requirements, so why not tell us? For example, who negotiates contracts at those clubs? The coach? The chairman? One of the other directors?

I have a feeling that at other clubs its more of a joint effort, the coach talks to our potential new player, tells him how he want him to play, about training ect, the captain shows our new player round gives him the sights and sounds of salford and then the chief executive talks money.
As for buying the coach goes to the board says I want MR X, They look what is in the bank to see if its affordable.

Well seeing as at the start of the financial year we had £877 in the bank I think we all know the answer to that one

| Well the great J Lomas only cost £100 and the rest is more than we paid for Gus Risman ... so we could make the play-offs yet!

| SS is Wilkys eyes and ears and has much more input than were led to believe, he sources the players ,he arranges contracts and negotiations ,he also arranges Housing and Sponsorship. He is so far up JAW ass that John has no balls to dispose of him! . Every player I know past and present have all said the same thing that Simms is a snake and not to be trusted! They can't all be wrong ..

| you can have my pearls of wisdom right now and actually posted more than that but lost my username and password and set up another account. I do apologize for the caps locks i didn't mean that, and tbh a lot of ex players coaches known to my family have all said that simms is the problem within the club and considering after 2 days i have over 100 signatures im shore quite a few others have the same idea of where they want the no good Aussie to go as well and that would be straight back home.
