Quote: DAVE@CAS1990 "The reason 'm on here is to discuss Sunday's game - as soon as it starts it descends into chaos which is irksome...

I'm willing to accept you aren't all at fault, of course not - but when the bait is dangled (and it is regularly, granted), boy is there a bend in the rod!

ANYWAY............. my attempt is thus
It would be nice to think that Chase and Smith will click straight away, but I can't see it. So far this season they've only had 20 minutes together (in competitive matches), so they've got a lot of catching up to do. And that's assuming Chase is fit, of course.

I think Cas will win it in the forwards. Tasi and, particularly, Harrison Hansen have been impressive so far, but we're really missing Gareth Hock's power and offloads. The rest of our pack are more "solid and dependable" rather than spectacular, and given Nobby's apparent predilection for going through the forwards, it hampers our attack a bit. That said, both Jordan Walne and Jason Walton have looked good in their brief spells in the second row recently. Walton hobbled off last week though, so he's probably yet another absentee.

Our pack is fully fit an raring to go again, but the front row are crying out for a breather IMO.

Oliver Holmes has been a revelation this year - he's come on leaps and bounds and is winning every impact.

Hauraki has torn teams' left edge to pieces all season as well - I reckon we are better in the forwards on form, but not quite as snazzy in the backs.

That said, Hansen looks better than I've seen for a while. Hock's absence might be crucial as he's the complete SR for me, much as I don't like to admit it....

Dorn has experience and Carney is the best winger we've had in SL (his ability under the high ball is phenominal to say he's not that tall) but I think salford have more flair in the backs by quite a way.

If we have ANY advantage in the backs, it's our kicking game which I think we might just pip with Sneyd and Finn over Chase and Smith... At Cas Rangi's kicking was never his strength, and Smith's this year have all fallen a little too long.

Could go either way but the form book is in our favour (if that means anything)

I'm really struggling to pick a winner on this game.

Salford are due a good game and an 80 minute game at that. Will it be this week?

We have home advantage, if it counts for anything. Rangi possibly back would be a great boost.

Cas have been great so far but are due a loss. Could it be this week?

It really could go either way, and I'm hoping that that good performance by us will appear. Should be a good game regardless.

definitely should be a good game, and a game I think neither side will run away with.

correct we are due a loss, and we know we won't win all 27 rounds - but we put in a performance poor enough for a loss last week, so hopefully we will be a little more sharp this week and not regress further

Quite looking forward to 'The Beast' Carney and Greg Johnson.Should be a good contest between their attacking and defending prowess and how they manage any kicks in their direction.

Carney has been unreal under bombs this year and he's been targetted cause he's fairly short, but he get's up ridiculously well.

Powell has got him running to centre field returning the ball which is slightly less spectacular than his "plough straight into/over the nearest living organism" method of last season, but it'll be a great match up

Is it true that Sneyd is definitely playing on Sunday? I thought that if a player was on loan they couldn't play against their parent club? Pretty bad move if we didn't add that clause to the contract!

Quote: Fantastic Mr Catpiss "Seriously, is that the belief or the understanding over your neck of the woods over Clark?

We heard rumours regularly, but they died down last year, nothing more has cropped up.'"

More and more of the right people are suggesting its true, including one who was apparently told by Daz himself, We had to sell to save the club at the time, a fee in the region of 200k was agreed, and we would keep him for this season with Monaghan been an option for yourselves.

The biggest advantage Cas will have is at dummy half. It's been said many times this season but we've been killed all season in that position. As 'solid' as Tommy Lee has been, we're very slow and predictable. The speed of the ptb is one of the biggest reasons our attack has been slow and labored. By the time we've got the ball out, the defence are on us. Clarke will likely kill us there.

If Chase is fit, then Theo on the bench as interchange hooker my give us better attacking options. He's no worse than Howarth in defence but again, it's a bit of square peg round hole situation. I'd honestly bring back Gaz Owen who deserves a shot in this team. Howarth should then be farmed out on loan (if anyone would take him).

I'm not sure why the Cas fans on this thread are so worried about this game? Let's face it, we were absolute garbage against Wire and they are flying high with some big clubs already taken care of. Hope i'm wrong, but I can't see anything other than a convincing win for Cas.

hope you're right!

But you've your full first 19 this week and are due a win. After last week we are due a defeat.

I'm hopeful we can turn that round and it's a tight match-up in the squads, but I think you need this win, and will just nick it

Hock is our biggest miss atm and Walton has looked good too. So not a full strength 19 just yet.

I think this game will say a lot about how Cas will go this season. A team flying high after impressive results so far should comfortably beat us with our current form. RL has a habit of being unpredictable however, so you just never know...

I hate to be a pessimistic bugger but I can only see a Cas win, hope I'm proven wrong though! As others have stated we are painfully slow from dummy half and I honestly think the only way we will improve this area is by signing an exciting hooker who can get us moving!

Happy to have Chase and Meli back but I think this game a few weeks too soon for us. Another 4 weeks and Hock/Griffin will be back and hopefully Chase/Smith have clicked.

Hope we put in a respectable performance though.

Cas by 6 (Sneyd's kicking the difference).
