| Quote: Iain "He also [isaid[/i that he didn't apply for the assistant role last year - fingers crossed though.'"
That would Salford through and through wouldn't it, turn a coach for the assitants role and then given the head coaches roll less than a year later.
For me the one dangerous aspect if Millward did get the job would be his friendship- with Simms. For me I could only see that leading to problems I'm affraid.
Has anyone got any indication which candidates have approached the club rather that the paper talk we keep getting? As the more I think about Dunneman the more I think he would be the ideal candidate but not certain if he has applied or not.

| I don't think anybody has formally applied [iyet[/i. I think Wrigley and Veivers are expected to though.
I would love Dunneman to apply though. I first mentioned him a while ago and he'd still be my first choice. He's been an assistant since he left us and the head coach of a Queensland cup team I think. That said, I don't know much about Wrigley.

| I understand the affection for Dunneman but to be honest I can't understand the appeal if you think about it in the cold light of day.He is still in the learning the job phase for me and other assistants mentioned have had longer, high level experience.Dunneman maybe a good No.2 for now.

32990_1435324474.jpg First accept sadness. Realise that without losing 70% of the time, winning wouldn't be such a relief.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_32990.jpg |

| I think Dunemann is an obvious candidate considering the leadership he showed whilst at Salford in 2006. It was no coincidence that when he returned to Australia we went totally backwards from making the playoffs to getting relegated the following year. I heard many within the club say that his off field presence was immense and offered even more than his on field presence.
I just feel it would be a great move if the club could attract him back. Dunemann has experience working as No2 at Newcastle Knights under Rick Stone and understands our club and how to make it tick. Perhaps with Wayne Bennett joining the Knights in 2012 his position may be vulnerable and he see's his future elsewhere?

Quite like George Riley's input this is telling , At least Riley is looking forward to being in Salford !

5 years as an assistant coach/Queensland cup head coach + a long playing career as a playmaker/organiser. I don't see why its any bigger a gamble than Wrigley.

| Some pretty good names here!
The available coaches right now include Australian test coach Tim Sheens, NSW State Of Origin coach Ricky Stuart, Steve Folkes, Brad Fittler, Rick Stone, Jason Taylor and Daniel Anderson.
Would love to see someone like Fittler at Salford.

| The Chairman, quoted in the M.E.N,that he mite have to go to Australia,to sort out a coach.Dose this mean the
applicants are not very appetising, anyway I wish him luck, dose Wrigley think three years with us,mite not look to good on his C.V.Alas It looks like Anderson could be going to Widnes. He should have plenty of money there.

| Steady, as we do not know who is applying for the job.
The story is reminding me of a similar one about Anthony Minnichello and Craig Gower.
