| Quote: theredshed "I agree we haven't got the time to be messing about, we are staring down the barrel of championship rugby and even more embarrassment unless something drastic changes soon. We are in total free fall with this terrible run of results and all the off field drama over the past few weeks. The time is now for decisive action and ignoring the heart strings, it's a complete and utter mess we're in. No matter what some of us may think of Marwan Koukash I actually feel he deserves better results for what he's invested in Salford and the sport of RL.
There will be many people at this club taking home a tidy salary and it's about time some started earning it with results on the field. It's a monumental failure regardless of injuries and suspensions, this squad of players should never be next to bottom of SL. The final straw was the pi$$ take team performance on Tuesday night considering we had all the extra days to recover and prepare for the game. Our opponents would have been sore and more fatigued than us but it was evident they wanted it so much more.
Yes we all want the same, stability, positivity and better results but the team have to do their bit. It does feels like treading on egg shells giving an honest opinion at times. Sensitivity, defending against criticism and finding excuses isn't going to get the club out of this hole.
Rant over.'" What exactly has he invested in Salford I ask ?

I don't know exactly but Salford apparently lost over 4 million last year and MK said at the recent press conference the club were currently 150K in the red, if I heard correctly.

| Quote: John Gilbert Reds "Oh and I would love to have Paul Rowley as Salford head coach. The things I would give to see Salford play a similar brand of 'care-free' and entertaining RL as Leigh have done for these past couple of seasons. In a game where people are too concerned about percentages Rowley has ripped up the coaching manual and gone about things his own way.'"
Because Rowley has the freedom to do it.He's never questioned? from above. The Rugby is left to the men who know, without interference from others who don't.

| I thought that Salford would probably start to deliver this year, I expected a top 8 season. The doubts I had were around your Chairman's love of meddling and the media limelight, which could unsettle any team. The other doubt was about my perception that you have a lot of "came for the cash" players in the squad. A great squad on paper, doesn't always gel as a team. I hope you pull through and survive the middle 8's because I'm not sure the good Dr will stay the course if you don't.

It hasn't prevented Chelsea and Manchester City buying into success over the past few years. I suppose the only differences are they don't have a salary cap and didn't gamble with a young and inexperienced manager. And I suppose you could say owners that don't have appear to have an attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Fair enough observation, but as I recall neither had an instant result from splashing the cash and as you said they operated under no salary cap beyond that depth of their owners pockets.

Took both clubs a few years to fully reap the rewards. Plus, the owners of both those sides don't get so heavily involved in the playing side of things. They let people get on with their jobs.
Of course, any suggestion that the opposite is true at Salford is purely hypothetical...

It did take a while and they were able to blow most clubs out of the water with their big spending, it's just not possible to do this in Super league with the salary cap. It's been a very disappointing year but I believe we are much better than the results and our league position suggests. It has to be a big shot in the arm for everyone having Tim Sheen's back and I'm hoping we can really kick on from here. I hope the club can finish this year very strongly, learn from the experience and use the disappointment as motivation for next year and beyond.

| No sign of Mr Harris at training this morning! Tim Sheens on the pitch with the players and Ian Watson.

I was only thinking to myself earlier will Harris return? and if so could he be back for Sunday's game? We are just going to have to wait until the club make a further announcement. I'd expect the RL press will be itching for an interview with Mr Sheen's as soon as possible so it may not be too long before we all get some news.

I've thought that was the likely scenario myself, there's not many coaches of Harris's age wouldn't jump at the chance of learning from the very best.

| It could all depend on how talks go with Australia about renewing his contract. Mal Meninga could be in the frame for the Kangaroos after today's origin result?. The ARL could decide on a change of direction because Tim Sheen's has had the job for 6 years now. Also isn't Iestyn's contract up at the end of the year?
