Well, as you ask, it means there's a culturally derived tendency for some males to assert superiority over females by subordinating them to a status by which their value is measured in terms of sex appeal. In doing so, males further reassert their social position over women in a general sense. By engaging in such language, even if they don't necessarily hold such regressive views, one reaffirms and enhances such social positions.

Or, the comments aforementioned could be construed as sexist and offensive by some.
