Quote: FLAT STANLEY "I ain't questioning the Old NRL Vidot. I'm questioning the pudding he is now. Simple walk ins don't cut it with me. And I'm sick of all the parroting about his fatigue. He's a winger for goodness sake, not a bloody back rower. He should be fit by now. Period. Didn't take Carney long with his fitness did it.'"
I'm sure Vidot will be gutted he doesn't meet your high standards
Didn't take Carney long with what fitness?
I have a strong feeling you aren't interested in anyone else's opinion but, just in case......
Yes he's a winger but he's not a martin offiah style, he's a grafter. He makes hard yards, that requires match fitness whatever position you play in. Now you've played the game. As have I. And I've coached it too. So you'll know as well as I do that when players aren't fit it shows in some of their stats. Stats don't prove everything but unfit players tend to have fewer carries, make fewer metres and miss more tackles. So let's have a look shall we
V saints. First SL performance, second game (can't find stats for Cas game). Vidot made 16 carries. Only Roby (19) and Carney (1icon_cool.gif made more. Walmsley, Amor and Sau also made 16. Back rowers as you have compared to those grafters - Wilkin made 14, BMM (another player you've bagged for laziness) 13, LMS 12. All the others in single figures
Metres made - 124. Sau (131) and Carney (135) made more for Salford. Given you've referred to Carneys fitness being fine is only making 11m more than a pudding ok with you? Swift (154), Amor (132) and Roby (125) made more for saints
Average gain - 7.75m. Only Dobson, Evalds, Sau and BMM (that lazy player again) had higher for Salford. 6 higher for saints but most off far fewer carries
Tackles/miss tackles - 6/1. Not great but compares favourably with Evalds 11/3 and Lui 16/3
V Widnes - 20 carries. More than anyone else on pitch. Despite spending 15 mins off having concussion assessment
Metres made - 144m. Only Carney with a huge 182 made more. No Widnes players did
Average gain - 7.2m. 7 Salford players made higher (inc that lazy BMM again with an impressive 11.11) similar numbers of Widnes players
2 tackles, 0 missed
2 tries, 3 tackle busts
He also made Total RL Super League Team of the Week, but what do they know?
Lots of other ways of showing fitness that I haven't seen figure for - speed of play the ball, getting back in defensive line but haven't seen anything obvious in all that . Could point to all kind of comparisons that show he could be doing better and no-one is arguing that he is as sharp as he could be yet (including him) but this absolutely shows that there is no significant problem with his fitness. If you think junior Langi ever turned in any stats like that then you're in dream land. As most have said could be better, could be worse but his work rate is high
Anyway I'm sure you will now change the angle of your attack, but thought this might help
