Widnes are a mid table, mediocre side with no money and even less fans.

Yet they took your expensively assembled outfit apart with alarming ease.

Joking aside, Salford will be fine. Players missing, need 'time to gel' etc
Important thing for now is that there is relegation from SL this season ( 2 CLUBS) and on that score Red Devils have nowt to worry about.

That last try for Widnes was barmy, Silverwood gave the defence no chance.

No Pete his next campaign will be to scupper St Helens future player recruitment plans. Didn't McManus rally the opposition against the marquee player allowance?

Quote: REDRUM "Thought howarth had another stinker tonight costing us two tries. Don't like that artificial pitch I know both sides have to play on it etc but as the home side playing every week you must be able to judge it better. All credit the the Vikings though they look a useful side'"

You could say he Is unlucky at times and that when he makes mistakes it usually results in the opposition scoring in the next set of six. We got pulled up 3 times today for forward passes and it was howarths one that Widnes responded with a try in their next six.

On top of his mistakes however, what does he offer in attack? The game today was all about pace and its a shame we didn't haven't have the impact of Gareth Owen to compliment Tommy Lee

Best team won. We had our moments but the 5th tackle options were woeful. Could've won it on another day but still plenty to work on.

I agree Widnes played to their full potential and are enjoying a purple patch.'"

Got to say, you can see a visible difference whenever Howarth is on the pitch, the whole structure falls apart. I just can't get my head around sending Owen out on loan keeping hold of Howarth. If there's two players I definitely don't think are super league material one's Howarth and the other is Dixon.

A big problem seems to be concentrating for the full set of six, way too many times we are letting the opposition make cheap ground on the last tackle. Oh, and we need to get control of the ruck a lot better than we are currently doing, but it looked like Widnes should have been penalised for constantly taking a second bite of the cherry after making the tackle. Although they seemed to play to what the ref would allow them to get away with.

Plus points, we seemed, with the exception of a couple of soft tries, the more physical team tonight, and there were some really good strong carries from Walton and Sau out wide. With a little more concentration we'd have won that tonight. The signs are there.

To be fair it's a completely new team and most players haven't even played 3 games together. Injuries haven't helped either because we have had to use no fewer than 23 players already.

How dare a businessman wanting to invest in our sport. Salford rugby league club was in fine health before this horrible man appeared.

Take Hock,Chase,Meli,Sau,Rapira and Griffin out of any 17 man match day squad and there's bound to be a problem.
Thought Walton had a big game

Yes, especially losing two players to injury tonight had an impact.

Agree Walton did really well and Johnson and Hansen also didn't deserve to be in a losing team. Question marks over Williams and howarth still for me though. Widnes were the better team and deserved the win but I saw enough to be optimistic we will win at least one of our next two home games.

This is what amuses me about some of the so called 'expert' opinions from fans of other teams. Apparently we don't have any depth whatsoever, yet we managed to put in a half decent performance missing our starting stand off, 2nd row, centre, a decent bench prop option and also picking up injuries to our loose forward and another centre in the game. Take the equivalent out of other teams who supposedly have better depth and they're still going to find it hard going after getting injuries to key players in those positions.

Quote: Wirecutter "Not the result we wanted and even more injuries but I thought it was a spirited performance. Every 50:50 seemed to go against us tonight but we can take some positives from tonight.

Most of our players performed pretty well with the exception of a couple I'd rather not name. I've got to signal out Harrison Hansen for some special praise I thought he was superb for us again.

Give it a few weeks and 5 or 6 key players back and we will absolutely tonk someone, trust me. It will probably be a revenge beating of Widnes at the magic weekend. It's a funny old game Bring on magic that is it lol icon_smile.gif a026.gif
