I can't ever recall Phil Clarke bigging this fella up on sky sports, he's obviously not a client of his brother's.

| With the fuss over the Doc's proclamation that he might start paying playing wives over the odds to snap on the Marigold's and throw a duster around for £100 an hour I was wondering what the laws say about simply paying a player a large signing on fee or to use an intermediary company to say pay a player £100,000 per year in sponsors fees which then surely wouldn't count towards the salary cap.

That was my response to, and still is my belief. Initially I do feel that we will have to pay big bucks to get some big players in that makes sense. Don't know why your saying Salfraud though?! Obviously another very bitter opposition fan!

| If the above is true then The Doc and Nobby have no idea what they are doing.Take City as and example of what we are trying to do they bought a couple of over- priced "Statement" signings. We will have to do the same.
I have to say that the constant posturing and suggestion of grand signings and grand schemes(buying the Stadium) is really beginning to become a negative because(and I no its difficult) but we are still meandering along at our previous levels.Something concrete has to happen and soon or further antipathy and alienations is going to be rife.

Fully agree, we need the equivalent man city signing of Robinho to make a statement of intent and raise a few eyebrows. I just hope we don't end up with 6 Gareth Barry's after all the hype.

That's a poor analogy, given that Robinho was expensive and awful for City. Barry on the other hand has been consistently 'OK' for a number of years.
I'd rather have 6 Barry's than 6 Robinho's!

I disagree Robinho was a catalyst that helped to attract other high-profile players. His impact on the pitch was variable but his signing served a purpose. The Barry comment was not meant as derogatory, he's a no frills average joe that does a good steady job but he doesn't put bums on seats or get's people off them.

Wow. Have you any more searing insights to share with us? Papal religious observances perhaps, or ursine toileting habits?
Of course Salford (note the spelling there) have to use money to attract players. That and convincing the player that the club have plans to use the money wisely. Let's not forget that bit. Any club in Salford's position would have to do the same, just as Warrington did in the recent past. Or do you think it was the prospect of playing for the home of Britain's first Ikea and Eileen Bilton that attracted Allan Langer to Wilderspool?

That is rich considering your lot are rumoured to have done more offshore business in recent years than the entire pirate population of Somalia.
