John Kear did not turn down Catalan - they refused to pay Wakey compensation so the deal was off.

As a Wakey fan, I can't help feeling your right about it already being decided we are going out of SL. However, as far as the letting go list is concerned, we have only lost 2 players for definite at the minute in JD and Latu and rumours about 2 others - Gleeson and Leano (both supposedly on their way to Salford). Cooke will also be unlikely to be offered a new contract and Rinaldi will go back to France at the end of the season as he has a player coach role over there.

TBH the only ones I am bothered about based on this seasons performances are Rinaldi and Leano.

The problem with recruitment is that everyone seems to think it is us going down (unless of course they know as you infer), and therefore we are having difficulty getting anyone in on what they see as a 1 year contract.

Not many players will sign one year contracts so 2/3 years is the only way to go but it doesn't mean we are certain of a franchise, it just means there is a clause that means they can go without penalties if we loose our licence. I don't think anything is set but I hope I'm wrong

nobody will know who's in until March , and who's out until July , until then there's something call rugby league to be played. It was bad enough last time round and my grey hairs are turning white ..

I'll not believe any of the rumours until I see it live on Sky sports news. We're just at risk as the others. Just cos the BBC and manchester are close by and we'll be building the stadium doesn't guarantee us anything.

As I have mentioned before the whole thing is totally stupid, what happens when it is announced which club is going, that club might as well pack up their bags, stop playing and wait for the next year. the fans will not bother to turn up because there is nothing to turn up for, players will be looking for other clubs and most likely stop playing to avoid injury, thus making a complete mockery of the league next season. In the first half of the season it will be all competative, second half, which will affect play off places will just be walk overs for teams playing the team kick out.
The rugby league may even face a legal challenge after announcing that a championship club will come up even before they have seen the applications, so in effect negating the whole process, and will it be a level playing field, will favourism be soon to clubs in London, Wales or France, do these clubs just have put in their application on the back of a fag packet?
The Rugby League is poorly managed and the applications for a licence for 2012 are already flawed by this mismanagement, we can only hope we have done enough because what ever club is kicked out will most likely never get back and will end up either playing in the lower divisions are going bust.
But if people are pointing at Cas, wakey or Us, how about one of the Hull clubs after all the Rugby League in their original plan for the future was all about one team from different Citys, so for expansion that would be logical one city one club.

i think that all applications should be put up online for everyone to see. This would stop the fans becoming sceptical about who has to put effort in and who gets a 'free pass'.
