So the next question is: Which of the plethora of multi-millionaires queueing up to invest heart and money should we choose??

Perhaps we could vote on them off at home games based on thier ice-dancing prowess?

Quote: Red Joldsworth "We all know how much he has done for the club, but it is clear he isnt the man to take this club forward, this isnt just a knee jerk reaction annd I am fully expecting the backlash from the Wilky brigade but for me in all fairness wilky has kept us afloat and im eternally grateful, however he either needs to dig deeper, we know he has it a quick example is the Buile Hill museum fiasco, its about time we went out on a limb, I know were building for next 3 years but does anybody believe we will progress anymore under Wilky , I am a staunch supporter, neer hear bad word said about the club in bookies etc but for me I dont believe he is the god everybody makes him out to be, he employs simms who I understand is a relative, now for me you have to be ruthless in this game, cut simms use the money to buy a half decent player who can help progress us, I dont believe all the flak for simms , mcrae is 100% deserved but I cant see us going any further, nothing bad about Wilky done fantastic for us but if we ever want to be the club we all long to be we need something new. Whether that be new chairman, extra investment, new players ( not just journeymen ) new coaching even if not drop mcrae bring in sum specialist coaches prime example when we paid the money for kicking coach it got results we need that something extra, we have a wonderful youth setup, use it and while im on it John Wilshere ccking player that he is, if thats not a player disinterested I dont know what is his chaasing back for example not just today, Wakey another time, diabolical, hes heads not in it so for me sorry but jog on Wilshere not wanted here pal we need players wanting to play for the club. Sorry if this has gone off the rails a bit im not a nuisance poster but just frustrated'"

I appreciate what you are saying but what you have to understand is both the Chairman and Club Directors will have loans and securities keeping the club in business. It is common knowledge that knowbody not currently on the board with any serious money is interested or has ever been interested in investing, buying or more importantly prepared to offer personal guarantees to the bank.

I believe if the Chairman offered the club for a £1 sale with the buyer only having to give personal guarantees against the clubs debts he wouldn't get one single offer on the table. Why do you think he's been Chairman for the past 27 years? (Totally different story if or when the club get the new stadium)
And Personally I can't see the Chairman putting any more money in during this economic climate, especially considering his investment in the stadium and all the delays, would you?

I don't agree that's what's needed. That squad doesn't look cheap to me. Disorganised, incohesive and unskilled, yes - but not cheap.
I still maintain it's a great testament to the club that we can afford to assemble a squad of that quality given our crowds. Not a great testament however, to our coach...

It's common knowledge the club was in debt when he became Chairman in 1982.

It's also a fact that most or all clubs are in debt and are kept in business by the generosity of loans and personal guarantees from Owners/Directors.

If the club has been in debt since 1982 does that not tell you something on how this club is being managed, in business and lets not deceive
ourselves because this is a business, if a company has been in debt that long, there must be a problem with some of the major decisions that have been made along the way.

Rugby clubs don't make profit! icon_eek.gif they are and always have been run like charities compared to a profit making business.

You really are very naive if you think a club like Salford can fight above it's weight and avoid debts with such a small fan base!

Tell me any top flight rugby league club that makes profit year after year and pays out it's shareholders? Eveything gets ploughed back into strengthening the team on and off the field.

This isn't premier league football just do the sums, every club has debts!

It's also common knowledge that the club boasted year on year how we were always in the black right up until approximately 4 - 5 years ago when they first went into the red under Wilko's tenure, given that then and now we were/are receiving more money than ever before?

Putting finances of the club to one side at the moment, Wilko is conspicuous in his silence at the current plight of the club don't you think?

I think its a case of the idiots running the village at the moment and to make change this has to come from the very top where the book stops. Somebody quite clearly isn't fulfilling their role and none of the fans are getting any answers which is leading to these topics coming up on here day in day out.

Action and answers is whats required here, not waiting on the assumption things will turn out alright. To anyone asking how do we do this and that and who else would take Wilko's mantle, dont ask me or other posters, ask the chairman what he plans to do as we're not responsible for whats gone wrong.

There was no notification in his post saying that the club was not in debt he said " it's also afact that most or all clubs are in debt"
so I took it from that he meant ours as well.

Look at the sponsorship that the Directors pay for, look at the support that The Willows fail to collect money for such as Corporate Meals etc, then ask what Wilkie does.

I'm sure Mrs Wilkinson would love it if someone with real money came in but look at Warrington it does not guarantee anything.
