But wouldn't a fine for Huddersfield by merited? You make out that they're an innocent party, but the various reports I've seen suggest that poor stewarding/lack of police presence were a key contributing factor.
It's clear that the incident has been totally overblown in the press, and I've a huge amount of sympathy for the Salford club TBH. As always in these instances, the club who's 'fans' are involved get tainted. But the reality is, Salford have no way of stopping these people (assuming they had no 'previous') from getting in to the ground, and then once they are in there, have no control over them-unless anyone is suggesting that fans should self-police each other.
It's the responsibility of the host club to maintain order, and it seems this wasn't done.
I think we're at risk of missing the two key points
Good post.
Jools - one other thing which should be directed to your club. Issue tickets for Players wives and children to the Centre of the Main Stand instead of at the bottom of the away fans stand. Its not rocket science in such a huge stadium.

| So you are admitting players wives and children shouldn't be allowed to sit with your fans?
People are able to buy tickets wherever in the stadium they wish. If players wives and kids wanted to sit in the centre of the main stand then they could just like your chairman usually does- and there were others from your club who were on the day. They obviously chose to sit where they did- wonder if they will do so again?
Like yourselves we rent the stadium, and therefore have no say in who is employed as stewards. On one hand you are saying we should have acted sooner on the other there was no bother elsewhere- which is it?
The stewards were pretty ineffectual in preventing the trouble IMO, but at least they acted decisively when it kicked off.
Don't worry I'm sure next time you come to town we will make sure there's a police presence - it'll be just like the old days........
Early bath you seem to have forgotten about the terrible cannonball tackle you were babbling about earlier- I was waiting for you to come back on the Giants board to tell me all about it and the massive ban ......

Well the way your club is plumetting towards the trap door it may be some time until we meet again. Mr Davy will have to pull his wallet out again I fear.
The matter wasnt put on report so its up to the club to cite and therefore I have no idea what the plans are. Totally wrong for you to gloss over the injury to MCB.

| Well it does look bad and we did have bit of trouble after the Salford game at Cas but the stewards seemed to anticipate it and acted so swiftly not many people noticed.
Just to put it into perspective in 2014 in the challenge cup semi final between Cas and Widnes. After the game @ 100 Widnes fans invaded the pitch and amongst other things attacked the Cas mascot and threw advertising hoardings at the Cas supporters.
Widnes got off scot free and the final insult was that at the end of the season they were awarded "the club of the year"
Sure there were idiots at the game and we all have a minority but Cas copped for a massive fine just because a few fans made light hearted comments regarding Gareth Thomas's sexual inclination.
Apologies an an a willingness to accept a fair punishment would see us all move on.

With all due respect, you shouldn't need any more stewards or police at a Rugby League match.

The matter was looked at by the disciplinary -
DETAILS OF CHARGE / REASON FOR NF : Player makes direct contact to leg of opponent. Contact is forceful but is made to the back of the knee consistent with the natural range of movement.
DECISION:No charge
INCIDENTicon_biggrin.gifangerous Contact in the 52nd minute (Caton-Brown)
Nothing wrong with the tackle then.

| My only issue with Huddersfield was the way which they covered the bottom seats in the stand meaning the only access to the players after the game was via the stairway. In rugby league and especially with Salford, the fans always congregate down to the bottom of the stands to congratulate the players and this certainly added to the chaos.

As do most fans, it's never been a problem before. As most fans make their way down sensibly and don't try to throw objects and themselves into the pitch.
I don't see what difference not covering it would make- unless you are suggesting that people would climb over the chairs - which surely would add to the chaos.

I presume you are a full time housewife Jools with a bit of time on your hands. My apologies then for the late response and not checking the Decision. However I find it hard to understand your obnoxious comment `[iNothing wrong with the tackle then` [/ias you will have seen MCB in great pain and a complete passenger for the rest of the match.
Baloo should `throw the book` at Danny Brough but of course the opposite will happen. Talk about Double Standards.

If those covers weren’t on the seating, it would have prevented the extent of the crush that occurred. The stewards had to open the emergency exits to prevent them getting crushed against the barriers because there was nowhere else to go. Of course if the balloons hadn’t started pushing and shoving it wouldn’t have been as bad but Huddersfield need to look at those measures, as they contributed to the chaos.

Early Bath- you came onto the Giants board full of indignation at the perceived cannonball tackle - you named me specifically demanding I make comment. I said I hadn't seen it and would check the disciplinary- which I have. An independent panel have checked the incident, they've looked at the extra camera angles they have and decided there is nothing wrong with the tackle and issued no charge. Just like the decision they made regarding a similar tackle they looked at made by Tomkins on huby. So would you be "throwing the book" at Tomkins for a legitimate tackle?
As for the misogynist housewife comment- you've just shown your true colours.

| Although I was there, I was too far away to see what started the fracas. I have waited to read witness reports and another matter concerns me: if there were issues between immature actors and fans trying to contain the immaturity, will this be obvious in the viewing of the video evidence? There seems to be witch hunt to identify culprits: what of otherwise innocent persons caught up in the matter and defending themselves?
Re Huddersfield: I spoke to a family who sat close to the fracas and they commented some of the young fans had been able to buy alcohol in the ground without proving they were 18 or over. Is this true, Jools? If it is ... Huddersfield could be found guilty of breaking several rules and laws.

Re Huddersfield
The lad who ran on to the pitch was drinking a pint. I commented to my missus pre-match that he looked about 14 years old, and wondered how he'd got away with buying it.
